Okay, ok, I'll staple me fingers together too . . . Apr 29 13 08:14 am Link Jets released Tim Tebow. Do you think he will find another team or is he done? In the NFL he has good stats and a winning record, even took the Broncos to the playoffs when they were doomed....Buuuuuuut I am happy for him that he is a millionaire at least but would like for him to find another team that will let him play. Apr 29 13 08:53 am Link Sorry Greg,he is not an NFL qb Say what you will about how he was treated by the Jets,if he could not even beat out a loser like Sanchez then you know that he is not that good Apr 29 13 10:10 am Link Chris Rifkin wrote: I agree that he does not seem to be NFL QB Material but damn if he didn't make things happen when he took over for Denver. He's the one that got them to the playoffs. He's the one that salvaged their season. For the Jets he completed 6-of-8 passes for 39 yards and ran the ball 32 times for 102 yards. What does this say? It says the Jets spent a ton of money and NEVER gave him a chance. Granted, you can say he didn't beat out Sanchez in practice but I am not sure that says too much. Denver put him on the field and he just plain made things happen. He found a way to win. His stats were not the best in the NFL, far from it. But they were not the worst in the NFL either. So to call him not NFL QB Worthy doesn't make a lot of sense when there are others worse than he is ...and he WAS WINNING GAMES at Denver. Apr 29 13 11:10 am Link Uhhh..he was not singlehandedly wining games in Denver like you and others seem to forget They should have lost vs the Bears that year but got 2 gifts from Marion Barber(running out of bounds under a minute to go trying to run clock in regulation and then fumbling inside Fg range in Ot)..their defense and special teams had as much to do with it if not more... The ony thing he brought was a warrior, never quit attitude Again,Tebow was getting half the reps in practice in mid season and make no mistake Sanchez was going to be benched....the fact he wasn't is telling..... He is not a starting NFL caliber qb or somebody would have traded for him Apr 29 13 12:30 pm Link Haters gonna hate Apr 29 13 12:55 pm Link Not hate, its reality and logic.... If he played for any other school there would be no blinders such around these parts Not a gator fan, will never be,not an alumn,so I see things more clearly A great college football player, maybe on to the top 10 all time, but sadly he came around about 50 years too late,as his skill sets would have probably made him the most dominant football Player in the 30's,40s,and 50'srunning the single wing/T,ect... Apr 29 13 01:28 pm Link Tebow fanatics label people that point out the obvious, haters, and claim that it's because of his religion. No, it's because of the fact he can't play football at the pro level. I like the guy, think he's probably a great person. But he's not ready for the NFL as a QB (or any other position...those switch position suggestions are comical). And, ummm...he's been given *plenty* of chances. He was horrible in Denver. Yes, horrible...one game with 300 passing yards vs. Pittsburgh doesn't mean you did well (see Cole's explanation below). Denver's defense and special teams were winning games during that run, all Tebow had to do was not lose it (ala Dilfer during his run). And he still almost blew that, with near all-time low stats for a QB. He was beyond horrible in NY on the practice field. Why on earth would you let him on the field during an actual game, when you see how terrible he is in practice, and previous games? Maybe he'll magically correct one of the worst QB ratings in NFL history by being in *another* real game? Not happening. Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports sums it up perfectly: But what's disregarded about Tebow by so many people on both sides of the debate: He has the physical tools to play in the NFL, but not enough of the training required to do it. That's why Tebow can look great at times and look lost at others. And that's why the high and low points of his career are separated by all of a week. In the 2011 NFL playoffs, Tebow played one of the most memorable games in league history, beating the defending AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers in seemingly miraculous fashion, passing for 316 yards and putting an exclamation mark on the moment. The blitzing, hyper-aggressive Steelers (who were playing with an inexperienced backup safety) played right into Tebow's greatest strength – the ability to look good in chaotic situations. A week later, the Broncos played against the New England Patriots, a team that was almost comically bad on defense at the time. Instead, the Patriots made Tebow look like he needed to go back to Nease High in Jacksonville for remedial work. The Patriots played the simplest two-deep zone that you could imagine, refusing to blitz him until he broke the pocket. The result was a 9-of-26, 136-yard passing performance along with only 13 yards rushing on five carries. This was the kind of game where even an average NFL quarterback would have thrown for 300 yards, as one AFC coach said a month later. Granted, that quarterback still would have lost to the Patriots and Tom Brady, but that's not the point. This was yet another illustration that Tebow isn't ready to play conventional NFL football and he's not quick enough to play read-option all the time. Tebow can't read defenses. He can't explain the differences between two-deep, three-deep and zero coverage, much less see them. He was never trained to do that at Florida by Urban Meyer (not that it was Meyer's responsibility to teach him; it was Meyer's responsibility to win). Blame that reality on whatever you want. It could be the fact that Tebow is dyslexic. Coaches and players who were with him in Denver say that Tebow would get to the line and immediately lose track of the play call from the huddle in the jumble of what he was told and what he saw across the line. It could be that he played in funky offenses in high school and college that didn't teach him. He was almost never under center at either level and his high school offense featured him lining up almost in punt formation on each play, giving him an unreal amount of time to read the defense. Ultimately, Tebow needed a plan if he was going to succeed in the NFL. He needed to sit for a couple of years and be schooled on the subtleties of the game, on reading coverages and other nuances. That never happened. When former Denver coach Josh McDaniels traded up into the first round to draft the quarterback in 2010, the wrong message was sent to Tebow. The message was that Tebow was OK as is, that all his problems as a player were of little consequence. By God, he was going to make it. Literally. Apr 29 13 02:12 pm Link At the end of the day, only winning and making money for team owners matters. It is interesting that Peyton Manning did no better with the Broncos than Tebow did. I would also bet that Tebow made more money for the franchise since his cost was lower and he seemed to have more support from the fan base. Tebow did NOT have the worst stats in the NFL(look it up) when he played for Denver so bashing him to hell and darn near calling him the worst QB in NFL history is really uncalled for. All it does is speak to the character of those saying those things. I don't disagree with so much that is said about Tebow, his ability to read defenses, his stats etc. What I disagree with most commonly is the venom with which it is said. No one deserves that in any profession. The older I get the more careful I try to become in my word choice. Apr 29 13 03:17 pm Link No venom here, no bashing all to hell...do believe I started out by saying that I actually like Tebow as a person. Guess I should have clarified my statement, by saying that in the one season that he actually played, he was among the worst QB's in terms of stats. No venom, straight-up fact. Per the NFL's Total QB Rating System, which even factors running efficiency (his strength, right?), a rating of 29.9, ahead of only Bradford, Painter and Gabbert for 2011, and certainly nowhere near mediocre or good for all-time ratings: http://espn.go.com/nfl/qbr/_/year/2011 And as far as insulting me personally, and calling my personal character into question over online discussions...that's your prerogative I guess, not a direction I'd head in. Apr 29 13 05:20 pm Link I think he is going to be a good QB yet He's just not a plug and play guy He needs time on the side lines Apr 29 13 05:43 pm Link boy am i glad i dont know nutin' bout sports...lol.. hot and muggy monday to everyone. Apr 29 13 05:52 pm Link Carl Roberts wrote: Agreed, Carl...had he been brought up that way from the start, we could be looking at a very different scenario right now. I do think he has potential, if he's willing to learn, and if someone is willing to take the time to teach him. To quote myself: "What I disagree with most commonly is the venom with which it is said." I did not say that I was so inclined to be peeved with what Koryo (Rick) said. It was a generalization where I have read far too many venomous comments by so many people so if you assumed I was coming after you, I apologize for that. I would have been much more direct had that been the case. It was merely your post that spurred me to respond. That's it. Apr 29 13 07:40 pm Link Chris Rifkin wrote: Interesting. I certainly don't know of any other QBs that have or have had the physique that Tebow does. One thing the extra bulk does help with is running the ball and taking hits, both of which Tebow can and has done...not necessarily what you want your big money quarterback doing. Apr 29 13 07:47 pm Link Refocusing the thread, I sought feedback from many people. Many responded in the past 24 hours and I thank you. The date selection for June (two of which were provided) was almost unanimous for Saturday, June 8th. Only one person out of all of the responses might have a conflict. That's pretty good I think. So, here is the plan that I see. Saturday, June 8, 2013. Indian Rocks Beach, FL Initial Place to Meet & Greet: Slyce Pizza Bar: http://slycepizzabar.com/ 311 Gulf Boulevard, Indian Rocks Beach, FL 33785 Time to initially meet & greet is a guess of 4:00PM This would be followed by crossing the street to a beautiful sunset where folks can shoot if they want. Sunset time is 8:26PM Low Tide time is 8:15PM....this is PERFECT!!! Simple plan. Putting it into action for it to be deemed a successful event is entirely different. I am quick to recognize this. If I can have the strong support of key members that have experience in this realm then we can give this a go together. I do not have massive contact lists including email addresses or phone numbers. I do not have lists of people that have attended other events in the past. Do I have the ability to get some people there, I hope so! I'm asking for help. I'm reaching out and just can't do this by myself. I have time to put into this but need help or guidance from the experts. Who can help make this a team effort? I want to have a crap load of fun but more importantly, I want a TON of people to have a crap load of fun. I think we need a Meet & Greet. Thoughts, feelings, volunteers? Thanks! Apr 29 13 08:27 pm Link OwenImages wrote: Sounds like a good thing to do. These days I don't travel too much to the west coast. It seems like all the meets and greets are in Orlando area. Debra used to setup meets in the Tampa area and she went cold but I attribute that to her parents being ill. Already there is another meet in the Orlando area on the 8th of June and the omg 26th May. I am going to another this Saturday. Apr 29 13 10:44 pm Link OwenImages wrote: How I always did it is start at home Apr 30 13 04:58 am Link Got a shoot tonight!
