First time Nude Male Model advice?
I am going to have my first nude shoot coming up soon and it will be with a female model, we will both be completely nude and working in very intimate situations. I want to make sure i work professionally and appropriately. I was just looking for a little bit of advice about the process and hear about some other models' experiences. Apr 13 11 08:33 am Link Just don't say anything like 'nice tits' and you'll be fine... If you're uncomfortable in any way, don't do it. (sorry, I'm not a model. But I just did my first nude shoot as a photographer. The most important thing, imo, is that everyone is comfortable.) Apr 13 11 08:36 am Link Think about baseball. If that doesn't work, mix 1 part water with 2 parts vodka and spray liberally on your man parts. It's an old home recipe for curbing unwanted sexual reactions. Apr 13 11 08:45 am Link J_Ambry wrote: It's not as bad as it seems. Apr 13 11 07:15 pm Link yea see i have no problem being nude, thats why i was a little worried that i'd be too comfortable on a shoot and experience the unwanted reaction. i'm not worried so much about what to say because i know how to be respectful and professional, i just dont want to get erect accidentally and have the other model mistake me for a creep Apr 14 11 01:11 am Link I think it would not be bad to meet beforehand with her if you haven't done so yet. Personally I only do mixed duo shoot if either I know both models myself or if the models know each other already. Many interested male 'models' apply for duoshoots all the time, but some of them are not interested in modeling at all if you know what I mean. And ofcourse that may turn out negative for the ones that are serious about it. A man will be a man, and I guess any woman will acknowledge that. And if you really don't want anything embarrassing to rise up, just think of complicated things like three hippopotami riding on tricycles in an eight-form while juggling pancakes, the one on the pink tricycle wears a yellow hat, the one on the yellow a green hat, the one on the green a pink hat. Stuff like that Apr 14 11 01:53 am Link After much worry, my shoots went well. If you want some specific tips, I can send you a PM when I get home from work this afternoon. Apr 14 11 02:07 am Link I have A LOT of experience with this(nude modeling), so when I saw the thread title I was going to pop in here and suggest a warm room. But per your fear of a "unwanted reaction", perhaps a cold room might be more appropriate? All I can say is that when a naked man and a naked woman come together with the honest intention of simply creating(photos/art/etc/) it is important that boundaries are discussed beforehand, and the understanding is made that there may be a "reaction". It is hard to fight nature, and it is important to be professional about it. Remember, sex scenes are filmed in many movies that do not actually involve sex. Apr 14 11 06:33 am Link There is something you could do (maybe two or three times) before the shoot which would make it less likely for your "problem" to rear its ugly head. But, actually, it's a fear that, in my experience, is unfounded. You will be thinking more about the shoot and what the photographer wants rather than what your little man wants! Apr 14 11 06:41 am Link J_Ambry wrote: I wouldnt worry, just be yourself and it will all be fine. Apr 14 11 07:43 am Link Thank you for the information guys, i think my worries are put to rest. I have been very mindful of the fact that there were probably "male models" out there who were trying to meet female models but have no intention of actually shooting. For me it was a business decision, i figured the best way for a struggling male model to get noticed is to pose with female models, she may be the focal point more often but at least i'm still there doing the best i can with my work Apr 14 11 10:03 am Link Try to keep the shots even. Almost all my work is nude erotica with nude females( see my page). Some shots, she is the main focus , i am the accessory, other shots are he other way around and some are even. As far as professionalism,,,no crude comments but it's ok if you get excited, Afterall, the idea of good erotica is to capture the steamy heat and the sexual chemistry between the 2 people, otherwise, it's just 2 naked people standing together. Apr 14 11 02:05 pm Link And as far as getting aroused...If the other model was standing and grinding on my nekked self and didnt get aroused, i would probably be offended...lol Apr 14 11 02:08 pm Link Chris Vinnit wrote: That won't work if the photographer loves vodka...he might try to "drink" it. Apr 14 11 03:25 pm Link haha I did an artistic shoot with my boyfriend a couple times and we were both so focused on what the photographer was saying that I barely even noticed him unless we were doing shots face to face. Just another prop No but really, You'll be too distracted to be aroused. promise. Apr 14 11 04:22 pm Link J_Ambry wrote: Here is the thing... Apr 14 11 05:25 pm Link J_Ambry wrote: Don't sweat it ... Keep your mind on your mission... Have a look at my extraordinary models Wynston and Rosie... Study them and see how beautifully they work together... Apr 14 11 05:35 pm Link Wow suprising good thread here. it's probabbly been covers like a trillion times BUT I don't care, thanks for starting it. And let's just say I'll never be a male model, and me being a nude model is past scary! Good luck on your shoot! Apr 15 11 01:04 pm Link Having posed with a few female models, and being a photographer, I hope that the photographer takes a few moments to discuss the theme just prior to shooting and perhaps shows some reference images and talks with both you and your female partner about how much body contact may happen to get an ok from both of you about those parameters. The intentions are artistic, at least from what I gather here in your post. And with a a good collaboration this will likely become a wonderful experience for you and I hope that it yields wonderful art for all involved. Apr 15 11 02:16 pm Link Well as luck would have it i have the good fortune of working with a friend of mine. I ended up getting 3-4 shoots booked over a 2 day period with a friend of mine as my female counterpart. She would more than understand should anything unintentional Happen. So basically i get a few consequence free trial runs. Apr 15 11 03:04 pm Link when i was 19 i knew nothing about the whole nude modeling industry and took my clothes off the first shoot i did... i wish someone would have told me play mate of the yr are girls who have never shot nudes before... this sucks because I would have held off on nude shoots for the chance to be something bigger... Apr 16 11 05:27 pm Link theres not really an equivalent of Playmate of the year for men, nothing as high status, at least not to my knowledge. and female nude models are in higher demand thus giving them more to gain or lose (depending on how they look at it) by deciding to shoot nude. i am an exhibitionist at heart, one of the many reasons i have tattoos all over my body. I think i am good looking and i believe i have good artistic vision that i would like to share with others. i'm not in the business to try and leverage my body for more work, im here to make the art that i want to make. modeling is a passion project for me, its not my full time job. Apr 16 11 08:30 pm Link that being said i do respect your opinion and point of view Apr 16 11 08:32 pm Link You can always bring your mom just in case. Apr 17 11 11:32 pm Link J_Ambry wrote: take care of that beforehand. Apr 17 11 11:33 pm Link J_Ambry wrote: Well hold on a minute. Before you go on and just shoot nude for anybody have you considered those castings that require models that have never shot nude before? I came accross a few that were willing to pay thousands of dollars to girls with no history of ever shooting nudes. Apr 18 11 02:59 am Link J_Ambry wrote: haha i know i wanted to share that with everyone out there reading this, this is public right? Apr 18 11 03:01 am Link Pretend you're gay for the day, and think of Paul Bryson, imagine yourself giving Paul a nude massage during the shoot, if you still have a boner after all that, then you owe Paul, dinner and a movie Apr 18 11 03:18 am Link Miss Bonnie Rose wrote: if you have any idea where a guy can get that kind of opportunity i'm all ears Apr 18 11 08:30 am Link J_Ambry wrote: That sounds like a completely different kind of opportunity than your stated goals. A nude male model saying "nice tits" to the (presumably clothed) female photographer . . . . Apr 18 11 12:17 pm Link i'm not worried about anything anymore. like I said my first 3 shoots will be with a female model I am friends with and very comfortable with, and even if i should have any involuntary reactions she would be fine with it. now i'm just excited to do the shoots. Apr 18 11 12:58 pm Link i want to thank everybody for their advice and tips, my first shoot went great without any problems and it was a ton of fun. i have a few of the photos posted on my page already Apr 25 11 11:37 pm Link I did two photoshoots with the same female model in March. The only thing is I am dating her so its different than just working with someone random. One of the shoots we did was an erotica shoot and we were extremely intimate. I was nervous about it, but once we started shooting and everything, it didn't really phase me. I enjoyed it very much and had a lot of fun. Just be confident and have fun with it and use what you know. You will gain a lot more experience after doing this shoot, guarantee it. Apr 25 11 11:47 pm Link I think having a pre existing friendship with the model was exactly what i needed to ease into it and i think now i have all the confidence i need to work with strangers Apr 26 11 04:18 pm Link |
