We have a winner! The judges sorted through hundreds of submissions, got into many arguments, and got into even more arguments.
In the end, however, the contest boiled down to two favorites.
Based on the criteria of “creativity, originality, aesthetic appeal, continuity with current site banner, and clarity”, the judges picked this banner as the winner.
MichaelO is the photographer/digital artist, and Mosh is the model. Congrats, MichaelO and Mosh! Together they win 5 years of free VIP membership.
Running a close second was this entry by digital artist Matthew Lane and model Yelena21. (Image by photographer KARELEA) Together they win 1 year of free VIP membership.
Many thanks to all who participated and offered their visions as to what Model Mayhem will look like. We’re excited about the change.
Wow, looks a lot like the old one. Except the model took off her sunglasses and put on some headphones.
Great job to MichaelO on your image treatment! Was my favorite too. Aside from mine, of course.
Great job to MM staff on sticking to your guns about the font. It may be the fugliest font ever created but it has become the trademark style that we have grown to love.

I'm in agreement with others,it looks just like the old one but the model(Mosh did great)is wearing headphones(not sure how that relates to MM).
With the vast amount of entries,I saw many others that IMO would've been a nice change from the old banner. Why stay so similar when this a site for, mostly, the art community? *shrugs*
Sidenote-the image itself is really cool, job well done by all involved
I think it looks very nice. Yes, it does look a lot like the old one, but it does look significantly better in the area of quality. The site owners know what they want, no point in arguing that, if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have this site or all of these opportunities Besides, it's just a banner.
2. It has absolutely nothing to do with the content of Model Mayhem (well, aside from the fact that it started life as a photograph and features a chick.)

Why stay so similar? Clearly the folks who run MM have no interest in changing much of anything. Banner, SOP, documentation, etc. This "contest" was an interesting exercise in public relations. Make the masses feel like they are somehow involved in the future of the site, then do what the crew wanted all along. Cross the t's, dot the i's so that the contest is "legitimate" then pick MM banner v 1.000001 instead of v 2.0

Uhhhh... the font is the same.
They're not going to change the font because it's being used on merchandise. I've always wondered if the website owners ever got permission to use the font for this purpose... LOL!

It's a pretty shot, but more like a re-envisioning of the one we all know. Should have gone with something totally different, like the runner-up, rather than yet another blonde on a couch photo.
Beats by Modelmayhem..I like that idea. Congrats to Mosh and her photog but this literally looks just like the previous image minus the sunglasses and green background. Was the criteria for selection having a similar look as the previous banner?
