I really like the style and mood of the horizontal image.

It's more art, than fashion.  I think most of the photos they pick would never make it into any Vogue magazine.  To me, it's more of a marketing ploy than anything else.

Nah, they don't publish nearly enough amateur hardcore porn to be another Flickr!  wink

Give it another 1 or 2 years and we'll see.

I personally think it's a waste of time. Letting a monkey decide what's good or not, for what? To attract more visitors to their website so that they can increase their rate for advertising.

Well, the chickens inspired me.  So I uploaded a few.  They apparently hated all of my fashion, but a picture of the pyramids made it through. smile

Have you actually visited the site?
There is NO advertising.
How can you increase nothing?

couple new ones:

insomnia (18+)

USPS girl

from old series: vacation and the rest of them.

by the way, anyone knows the places to submit for free? I hate all these photo awards and competitions where you're supposed to tip organizers for each of your submissions. I believe they (not PhotoVouge which is perfect!) could have better (and more honest) business model in place to cash out on stupid masses (reminds me these zillion of models starving to death in NYC whose hope for miracle is exploited by model agencies). this "standard" practice used everywhere else is disgusting to me. looks like almost anyone can get legal permission to organize something look-alike as a lottery system or a casino (no difference!). just declare yourself non-profit or a good-cause or something like that and write-off virtually all collected money of the afflicted-in-hope-of-winning for themselves as "expenses", not forgetting mandatory tossing just couple paltry bones (like 0.01% of generated income) in the form of prizes to "winners".

It's a chump choice either way: either, pay to get published with a slim chance of getting something back; or just give your work away for free with no chance of getting anything at all.

are you talking about get paid in monetary form?
or it was just the assumption of this cute mouse you attached? smile I hope it's not your mascot! smile
again, I'm asking for free submission. PhotoVogue (and even MM) delivers. Why not others have the same or similar business model (commercially supported by ads or partnership with Art+Commerce, for example or what not)? how Google became the behemoth?  Flicker dropped membership fee and provided much more space. Free content. It's nothing to do with selling my content in any monetary form in my orig question. I could be mistaken but the real Olympics don't pay (much), and the gold medal isn't of pure gold either these days.
It's rather more to do with measuring a penis if you want smile
(and I'm not even attaching a pic of the laughing penis here).

Usually my major problem, THE biggest objection I have to doing it, is in the license they demand. Photo-Vogue are particularly cheeky bastards because they even demand the right to put THEIR name on YOUR work. That's horse shit! I wouldn't even let a PAYING CLIENT do that. Even the contests, paid for or not, are not that cheeky.

They have accepted just a single studio/model shot of mine so far:

... but a handful of others. I haven't tried again for a while.

I think Vogue use it for market research and story board ideas.

Anyone can open an account and get a gallery. The difficulty is in getting your photos approved and into the gallery. I imagine those photographers with empty galleries haven't had a photo approved yet.

That's me! They are tough, they reject everything! big_smile I gave up trying to figure it out...

They have all the rights to the images you send them.

This is great for both parties. They get the huge categorized images catalogue that they can use, sell or earn profit on them anyway they like.

You, on the other hand get your work REVIEWED!!! That is the important thing! Not a f***ing VOGUE sticker, but the fact that an impartial professional has actually said that your work is or isn't fit for printing in a high ranking fashion publication. Whether it results in anything more is irrelevant.

They can display them in their feed and possible magazine but they do not own them, there is a managed rigths sales aspect if a photographer so chooses; unless things have changed.
