Your mistake is assuming that "the photographer is the one who should be getting paid." Why do you think this?

Being a photographer doesn't automatically mean you put more effort into a shoot than the model. Modeling is a job like any other.
A quality model deserves to be compensated for her time just as much as you deserve to be compensated for yours.

+1,000,000  I am sorry but I completely agree.  I already put so much money into a shoot (just like a photographer does)  I think if the photographer is requesting a certain look they should compensate the model...but if it is the model looking for a certain image to update their port then they should pay and if they both are looking for something along the same lines it should be TF to be fair

Don't get in the habit of telling photographers you need them to pay your bills.

It's implied that payment goes somewhere.

You don't deserve to be paid because you have bills, you deserve to be be paid because your work and time are WORTH something.  Specifically, in the areas of nude and fetish, you deserve to be be paid because of what you are bringing to the table- supply and demand. 

How much you deserve to be paid is based on experience level, but has NOTHING to do with your personal life (bills), in the eyes of the one hiring you.

I don't hire an independent contractor because of how it benefits their life.  I hire them because of what they are giving me.
