Unfortunately this has happened to many of us.  No need to call her names.  It could have been true; if not, she is what she is.  Focus on the next model who DOES want to shoot, and WILL show up.  Don't let someone distract you from what you need to do.

For the last 5 years I've been dealing with elderly parents. My mother passed a year ago and my dad just passed. From experience I can tell you that things happen at inconvenient times. My dad died the day before my 30th anniversary. I've spent several nights in the ER with both of them. Give the model the benefit of the doubt. When you're in crisis mode you don't think of calling until things are stable.

What does it matter how often I get on forums? I randomly saw this.. and felt strongly about it.. being that I have been modeling for 8 years and your building your portfolio.. Being on this sight is about modeling not talking shit in forums.. but I see you dont know what profesionals act like.. I am personally starting to see why she didn't shoot with you.. You act like a child, And I wouldn't shoot with you either. If you were anywhere as rude as this to her before the shoot.. I would have stood you up and been happy just sitting there thinking about you waiting on me.. It's actually sad the models will have to work with you in the future.. but I doubt this will ever become more then a hobby for you .. since no company would hier someone as immature

Dude, seriously??

Here's a tip, you will deal with quite a few idiots here because, well, an awful lot of people (men, women, photographers, models, mua, accountants, lawyers, ditch diggers, etc.) fit into that category.

If you feel a need to shoot tons of models, then you need to approach it as if you were trying to date a lot of girls.  By this I mean, many won't be interested at all, some will shoot with you once or twice and move on and some you just won't have any chemistry with at all.  But you'll meet a few with whom you do and you'll develop a relationship with them.  Unlike dating, however, and this is the good part, you can have many such relationships going at the same time without anyone putting a knife to your testicles while you sleep...   These relationships are really what "testing" is all about.  It's getting together with friends to work through some ideas, produce some good work and, just as importantly, have fun.  Why do you think Testino shot Moss so much?  Because they were close friends.

The notion of "testing" or doing "TF*" with a million people is an advent of the interweb.  If that's what floats your boat, cool, but don't overlook the power of real relationships.

I just met a model on here the other week.  We exchanged some messages, got together last week for dinner and drinks, shot some pool and exchanged war stories.  We have a lot in common, she's a lot of fun and she has a bit of what I'm looking for in a model to shoot art projects with.  Today we shot, got some nice stuff and we had a blast.  In a few weeks I'll shoot her again and, in all probability, will continue to do so, off and on, for some time.  That is worth far more to me than ten girls that might flake because I have no idea who they are and they don't know me from Adam.

Now, to circle back to my first sentence about your first sentence...

I have been able to build these relationships because they know I respect them and they trust me.  You will never build that if you bad mouth models publicly.  Believe me, there are a few that I would LOVE to have come on here and ranted and raved about.  But you have to resist the urge to do that as it will only decrease your chances for getting what you want.

Be the photographer, in skill, creativity, passion and character that worthwhile models will want to shoot with, and they will find you.  The rest, just ignore.

Nice to know when I come through Orlando who I should never shoot with.

Blocking the OP now. Unbelievable to call a model a tramp... What a disgusting attitude.

Everyone has, at some point, dealt with a bad flake. The key word is "deal."

Was she your girlfriend and she stood you up to be with another guy? Because, then I could see you THINKING she was a tramp.

However, even in that case calling someone a name like that in a public forum is seldom going to evoke any sympathy for your rant.

You've probably succeeded in turning away enough models with this thread that you won't get to the point in the process of having to worry about flakes.

So...mission accomplished, I guess?

One has to be realistic about at what level of competence they stand. From the post it looks like, that the shoot was TF...Also the photographer seems to be new, also shooting in Park...as a hobby.....Just 4 photos in his portfolio.....Does not show investment in skills and equipment. So one should understand that in such situation, there would be these issues....

3 Stages:

1. You call models, some say yes and turn up, some say yes and dont turn up, some dont even reply.....Its ok in first stage of your skill

2. You call models, they all come.....very rarely someone bunks, because now after seeing your committment and results they are happy to shoot with you....

3. You dont need to call models, your inbox is full of request to shooot......so no body unless there is a real problem, stooods you up....

and then there is  a fourth level...

When you have inbox, full of request to shoot, and also a question as to how much will you charge????? try to reach there dude.....

I mean, you have every right to be pissed but calling her a tramp looks boorish.

You know people generally network on this site...and there's a lot of models on here...and they just saw you call another model a tramp...flake or not, that didn't sit to well with me.

Ditto... I think there's a difference between being a lil bummed about a flake, and then going on the all out offensive to call her a tramp, or slut or whatever, just taking it a bit too personally at that point in my opinion. And it doesn't make the OP look any better to future models.

Oh yeah!, two days before, I have no problem with, they are welcome to reschedule! But when they confirm the night before, then cancel minutes before, I will never shoot with them!! There is no excuse for wasting someone's time, it's stealing something irreplaceable.

It happens.  At least she contacted you before the shoot rather than leave you sitting around waiting for however long, thinking she's running late.  Maybe it's the truth, maybe it's a lie.  If it was me I would have taken the makeup artist for coffee and discuss ideas for an even better shoot in the future.  If the model was telling the truth, maybe she calls and reschedules, if she was lying you probably will never hear from her.  Best just to move on and deal with things as they come.  I understand being upset, but MM is a projection of you on display for all to see, and your posts here do make you sound whiney and professionally immature.

Every n00b should be allowed one "rant pass" good for any forum, but based on the OP's join date and number of posts, I would consider him a few steps beyond.

If it is an important shoot then double or triple book.  I always triple book and alway end up with the number I need showing.  Or.......have a plan B.  My plan B is always to have a few cold beers.  Don't stress........plan.

Based on this BS rant & calling her a tramp I'd say she did the right thing by cancelling..
