I'm 17, and I feel like my height is limiting me to smaller shows. I was fine as a 15 year old: 5'7.5 is a great height for shows. But now, near adulthood, apparently I don't have the height anymore 0.0 what should I do?

ps: ignore my port, I lost a bunch of images as I changed computers.

Lifestyle and some commercial work is possible for a 5'8 model with the right look, but realize its even hard with more comp.

Models with Asian features can get away with being slightly shorter than Caucasian models. Your height is not a problem for mainstream work.

I've often heard this, but never really see any evidence. I can't think of a single current mainstream model of Asian decent who is shorter than 5'10". Granted, I'm thinking of top models, but still. I'm thinking that a white girl would get the MOST work out of any other race, so why would a height exception be made for an Asian girl?

Send $99.95 to Torture Rack, Box 1, Stretch'em, Utah.

Seriously, There's not a lot you can do... Your height is kind of programmed into your DNA. Oh, you can take some expensive hormones, but you risk a lot of complications and possibly jeopardizing your health. Is it worth that?

Then again, you may have a late 'growth spurt' and wind up 7 feet tall. Are you ready for that?

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Just my opinion.

Exceptions are more common for Asian girls because the talent pool of Asians with the combination of 'model looks' and height is smaller.

In reality exceptions can be made for Caucasian girls as well, it just happens less frequently because taller Caucasian girls are not in short supply, and as a result the percentage of 'exceptions' is not very notable.

Caucasian models do get the most work, but that's another subject altogether.

I've only seen asian models at 5'6 when it's china or japan for the most point sometimes shorter. You still have til your 18 to grow half or a full inch.

Actually if you do some research on the subject, your growth plates for various bones close at various times. Yes, we tend to reach our general height in our mid-teens BUT it's possible to grow a little until you're about 19/20.. Just unlikely. smile

Oh I also wanted to point out that this can be an issue based on market.  In emerging markets some looks are in much greater demand, if you can travel or get with a good international agency you have a better chance.  Think of it as beating the rush, sort of.

Most people are done at that age and she may be too, but it's possible she has some growth left.

if you hit yourself ON TOP not on the side, of your head you can reach 5'8!!  You dont have a fashion face any way so no need to fret.

I stopped growing around 17, then grew another inch in my 20s. Anything is possible.
