The first thing that leaps out in your port, is your sublime control of your expression. I am immediately drawn to models that have more elusive, ethereal quality, and you have it in spades.

When we work together (soon), I'd love to do a really stripped back, honest series of portraits. I've been tinkering with medium format film, and I think your look would just serve that beautifully. Natural lighting, very simple framing, and trying to create a mood where something otherworldy can come to life in a single image

As you can probably tell from some of my recent work, movement is a huge part of my Photography. I'd definitely want to get something darker, to match your own style.. have you emerging from shadows, with your shoulders doing the talking. That way, we could use some funky lighting to create motion and drama to bring out that feisty strength that is just below the surface in the shots in your port

Natural. Light.

You have dream skin tone for shooting in natural light that I love the most... really strong back light, with all the energy in the shot coming from a distance in your eyes. You have an uneasy doll like feel, especially in the seated photo on the stairs. It's a total compliment, as it really does take that photo to another level. I'd really be interested in exploring that further, and seeing if there was a way to bring something more out of it

I love your work, and your desire to really find a way to create with your modelling. Your portfolio has some great moments, but in each photo, I can feel you trying to look like you're having your photo taken.

That would be our shoot. Something relaxed, so that I could find you, rather than you trying to act in a way a Photographer would like. I really love portraiture, and finding a way to bring something honest to life... that would be our play date

I'll let you know next time I'm in the area. Next trip may have me driving from Toronto, Chicago, through Wisconsin and then heading south. That will put us in pretty close proximity

We caught each other, just as I was finding my stride Photographically. Since then, I've come a long way, and I think we really could do something unique and exciting.

I do have a little tucked away project for you. I'll tease here, but not give away too much. When we next shoot, I may or may not have access to a recreation Victorian style straight jacket made entirely from aged cloth. I also have a basement of a heritage listed building, filled with bizarre sand stone rooms with ridiculously odd ceiling and door shapes.

I think we'd be able to have just a little bit of fun... in other words

Looking at your portfolio, you've worked in many creative ways with a range of artists. I would think the only hole in your portfolio, would be seeing you, very natural and honest in a portrait sitting. I would really love to cut down the distance between you and the camera, so that something really truthful came through. Once I got through a few shots, and found a level of comfort... I'd hit the studio lights, and get your hair moving with a fan. Bringing that hair to life, would create the sort of work I really love

I love models that are willing to adapt to any style of Photography. You've covered a lot of territory!

Looking through your work, you seem most at ease and confident in your more natural shots. The shots with stronger poses or seemingly more awkward style setups.

I'd love to get a location to shoot with you, something with really wide open spaces, like an old dance hall, where you could move around and find your own space. Once you had that freedom, I think we'd be able to really do a classic style fashion shoot, with the drama coming from natural poses and looks that would come from you having your own creative platform

One thing I've always tried to focus on, that I think gets overlooked, is how dramatic a photo is when a Photographer focuses on hand position.

Your lighting, composition and themes are sensational, but it's the drama in your posing that I love the most. The way you have models use their hands to carve through light or create a dramatic twist.

If we were to collaborate, I'd like to use your natural flare for lighting and posing, with my desire to get movement and air flowing through a photo. One thing I think we could both benefit from, is getting 2 or three models in, and working through a really challenging setup of lighting multiple models in interesting ways. It's something that can be tough for one tog, but together, I think we could combine our brains and ability to run between lighting rigs, to pull of something that I don't see that often

One word to sum up what I'm drawn to with you

Film

I lean on my digital crutch constantly, and struggle to be creative with film. I have a beautiful Bronica Medium Format camera gathering too much dust. I would love to pick your brain for a while (ie: hours and hours) to really come to grips with the medium.

Your love of portraiture in natural light is something I share. I have a few new friends in NY that we could bring together in natural lit apartments from Brooklyn to Harlem.... I would love to watch you work, work with you and get your advice on how funny my mistakes with film are

Looking at your port, you've got a really nice series of portraits that show your great style. I'd like to just take it a bit further, and try and get a much more direct, confident interaction with the camera.

I'd suggest a studio, where we could work and communicate a little easier, and push towards having a very strong expression in a portrait. From what I can tell, I really think your skin and bone structure would react perfectly to soft shadows cutting across your face. by getting a look that is more piercing, and a lighting style that is a bit stronger, I think we could add something really stunning and different for your portfolio
