What do you do when....
Your idea of a smokey eye is not the same as the clients, even though discussed and agreed(through looking at pics and making a final decision etc..) Then when done, she says the black eyeliner is too black. Hellloooo? Black is going to be black. So then asked to redo entire thing, therefore taking up more time. I gave in and did it because I wanted to please her, but left feeling like crap and a little annoyed. Please tell me what you would do in this circumstance? Nov 11 12 04:16 pm Link My first instinct would be to wanna ask her what shade of black she prefers just to see if she'd be able to throw a witty response right back at me. LOL But, we shouldn't do that, so ... I guess I might pull out all of my black eyeliners and try them out on the back of my (cleaned) hand and ask her which one she likes most. Different brands and formulas vary in color intensity. Perhaps she had the look of a certain brand or type of liner she'd seen somewhere in mind. Although, if you agreed upon pictures, she should have been happy, if you delivered the same look. Nov 11 12 08:07 pm Link LOL Yes I'd love to say something like that but probably shouldnt. The finished look looked exactly like the pic. I put it down to the client not being much of a "makeup" person in the sense that she doesnt wear much, so her idea of smokey eye would be like our version of a natural look, so even a little colour would look like a lot. Additionally when I work with an MUA or hairstylist and I'm responsible for shoot concept I'm sure to provide images of what I have in mind. While such shots aren't always exact they serve to let it be known what I have in mind and gives the other person the chance to let me know if they have a better idea based on skin tone, hair type etc. My point is that a bit of prep can go a long way. I've actually spoken to her face to face since then and explained how I felt and she actually apologised and took responsibility saying she had actually changed her mind about what she wanted and was too scared to tell me because I'd already put so much work into it.
