I contacted a MM model by the name of Natalie Green this month. We communicated via MM messages and discussed an 'extreme hair/extreme hats' shoot. Her responses were swift, professional and positive.

We exchanged ideas and moved to emails and emailed reference images to and fro so we both knew what we were committing to.

We set a date for the shoot and exchanged telephone numbers and exchanged text messages the day before the shoot.

On the day of the shoot 30 minutes before she should have arrived she sent me a text message saying that her sat nav wasn't accepting the post code I'd given her for the area I'd told her I was in. Oh oh!

I checked the info I'd given here and yup - I'd screwed up and given her an incorrect postcode. I sent her the correct one and she turned around and headed in the 'right' direction and arrived at the shoot location 10 minutes early. smile

Natalie brought a case full of clothes and arrived looking beautiful with her make-up already done. She was a joy to work with and we had lunch together (part of the deal) and exchanged stories and life experiences.

Models like Natalie are, for me, what MM is all about.

Here's a couple of pics from the shoot:

So glad to hear another story of a great shoot, since I hear so many on here from photographers about no shows, flakes, and the far out crazy models..yes there are some of us out there that are dedicated to the art and no matter if done for money or fun take it seriously, arrive prepared with a positive attitude, props, costumes, make-up ready, and give the shoot our all..the pictures turned out awesome! Thanks for sharing. xo..Lola..xo

Agreed, nice to see a praise thread to rise up above all the flake/escort/photoshop/lighting negativity threads.

Cool shots, OP and there are lots of wonderful professional models on MM.   I've had the pleasure to work with several.   Sweet and great people.

I've had great luck with MM models. Always professional and prepared.

Only 1 flake in 7 years.

Congrats on the model and wonderful images!

I've been recently lucky too.  The latest model I've worked with is very enthusiastic.  She asked to meet me first over coffee to go over ideas!  This is usually unheard of.
She was prepared with her ideas and I was with mine.
After a several months of not shooting with new models and getting rejected, it is so refreshing to meet someone like this.  I feel very lucky.

Similar story here, with Annabella. Plus we lucked out on weather that day, it was sunny... in Seattle. smile

And Lacheln was amazing, posing in spite of the temperature being nearly 20 degrees lower than forecast (because of a dense fog that blotted out the sun):

There are others... while it's true that I've had some flakes, most of the models I've worked with have been a lot of fun to work with.

I love postive threads like this!  smile

The experiences I've had with models here have been positive for the most part too.  So I certainly have nothing to complain about!  Best wishes to you all!

Congrats on the model and wonderful images!

When we photographers can get past the non-serious and flakley models and find the serious models on MM it makes shooting (whether TF* or Paid) a pleasure and often wonderful images are the end result.

Hopefully positive threads like this become the norm not the exception.

Hopefully good experiences with MM models represents that huge chunk of ice floating beneath the water level and the 'negative' posts are merely the tip. smile

That's most likely the case. People have a strong tendency to chatter a lot more about things that they displease them than about thing that please them.

If there weren't a lot of good models working with good photographers, there wouldn't be so many beautiful pictures here, either. smile

Never had an experience with a flake on MM ever! (that goes for llamas, hair stylists, makeup artists etc). Granted I haven't worked with that many MM llamas, but the ones i have have always been super lovely, professional and turned out great photographs. No complaints whatsoever. I love these happy threads!

Actually, the wide variety of models on MM is a real bonus.  Where else would I find a 5'5" nude model and a 6'6" bodybuilder?  And cheap, too!  But don't tell them that.

I have been shooting with llamas for 3 years and never had a flake.

I had one shoot postponed due to the llama being ill. She gave me 4 days advance notice that she was sick and might not be well enough to shoot and after she confirmed 2 days later she couldn't shoot I had 3 e mails from her apologising and saying she felt bad about it. We rearranged the shoot 2 months later when she was fully recovered.

There are a few models like you describe and I had the pleasure to work with. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen too often. There always the occasional one that doesn't reply back or ignore your calls- thats the reality of MM or any other modeling site. No need to sweep it under the rug.

Since the topic is about Models with an "s" plural, it's worth replying most models I've shot with have acted rather professionally at least for the one or two shoots I've done with each.

So I tend to find Model Mayhem a good resource, and generally have more in the way of good expectations than concerns or reservations beforehand.

Part of it can be gleaned from models portfolios and profiles and how the first communication goes. The photographers should get credit too, because sometimes I rely on their feedback too, or positive breadcrumbs they have left in association with certain models.
