Governor sues NCAA over Penn State sanctions
Pa. governor sues NCAA for Penn State sanctions. Sandusky -- the gift that keeps on giving. Okay -- I admit: I have a hard time wrapping by brain around this entire situation. Anyone got insights? However, it's also too easy then for programs to ignore things and claim innocence. Jan 03 13 12:30 pm Link But,, it is not the players program. And, one could argue that Paterno did nothing in an attempt to save/grow the program. This was not only Paterno,, so the entire system in place needed suffer the repercussions. I fail to see this decision to sue the NCAA as a positive.. Jan 03 13 12:47 pm Link A shark of an Attorney General was elected in PA, Kathleen Kane, who is a Democrat. Gov Corbett is a Republican. Corbett was AG previously & for 3 years stagnated any investigation into the PSU scandal. He also sat on the PSU board of trustees, a bit of a conflict of interest. It wasn't until Corbett became Governor the investigation & case went forward under his successor. It's all political, a derailment of the investigation so the new AG (and Democrat) will look bad in Pennsylvanians eyes for 1. Not aggressively pursuing the NCAA & helping out Penn St, and 2. Spending unknown amounts of time researching stuff from 3-5 years ago. It's a ploy, and this Governors a one term Governor for sure. He may even be found guilty of crimes. Jan 03 13 03:09 pm Link I think they got away easy! S.M.U. was given the death penalty for players getting paid. P.S.U. failed to protect kids from being raped and if the stories are correct, the top brass knew about it. I guess the NCAA believes that players getting paid is worse than children getting raped! In PSU's case, the team got punished for what some admins didn't do (and of course, for what one sicko did). I don't have any problem with these admins (including the head coach) being punished, but the team & it's players did nothing wrong, and yet they are the ones being punished. Jan 04 13 09:41 am Link |
