If you go the Kubrick route, don't miss Barry Lyndon. I had that in my original response, but edited it out for some stupid reason. Serra lit nearly every scene in that Rembrandt style...really beautiful to watch... The movie itself is about a B+ IMO but just gorgeous to watch! Serra also shot 2 of the Harry Potter films,Blood Diamond and Unbreakable... plus around 60+ other films!!! Pedro Almodovar - Dark Habits , Tie Me Up -Tie Me Down , Volver, Woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown and Broken Embraces. My favourite Luis Bunuel : The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, The Exterminating Angel, Belle de Jour , That Obscure Object of Desire, Diary of A Chambermaid, Viridiana, Nazarin. He collaborated on most films by Wong Kar-wai. He did a terrific job on Last Life in the Universe by Pen-ek Ratanaruang which is a beautiful movie. I love the look and moodiness of Michael Mann directed movies, in particular Miami Vice and Collateral (both filmed by Dion Beebe) and Heat and Manhunter (both filmed by Dante Spinotti).
