So, a follow up question for those with large collections -- how often do you watch these DVDs?  There are very, very few movies / shows I'd watch more than once.

Mostly I buy DVDs  of movies I like.  My test for liking a movie is whether I would watch it twice back to back.  Amazon, however, is pretty good at suggesting movies I will like, and so I often buy movies unseen.  Those have worked out for the most part.  There are a handful of movies I'm disappointed in, but none I can think of the name of.

Other DVD movies I buy for completeness.  Right now, for instance, I'm watching Triumph Of The Will.  I don't really like it, but I feel I should see it.

I do have a lot of movies that I used to like.  I look at them now and I can't figure out what was ever wrong with me to make me watch them.  The movie What Time Is It There? comes to mind.  It's more than two hours of still shots that usually have a clock in them, sometimes have a person in them, and if there is a person then that person is often peeing in something.

At any time I have a short list of movies I watch.  Back in 2000 I watched Fight Club three times a day every day.  Lately, I like to watch Scott Pilgrim Versus The World over and over.

Roughly 500 ordinary films. Another 100 or so DVD's I recorded from TV shows & PPVs. Another 100 - 200 porno ... I love those muscle men.

EDIT: I just realized I'd .be a lot richer if I hadn't bought all this stuff I  seldom  watch

I'm embarrassed that I likely own close to 400 DVDs ... maybe more. I have box sets of all seasons of some tv shows (curb your enthusiasm, sopranos, the wire, etc.).

I bought my favorite movies on VCR and then repurchased them when the DVD format debuted. I drew the line at blue-rays when I noticed that I never watch the DVDs in my collection.

I counted.  Looks like 697.  But I only counted most boxed sets as one dvd, even if they contained many dvds.

Had 297 until about 2 months ago....took up too much space and I realized I'd seen almost all of them a dozen times since I started buying 10 years ago.  Sold em, but not before I ripped all my favorites and copied them to a pair of hard drives.  Just gonna go digital from now on, takes up less space for the same price if you buy online and download.

My cousin, though... has a problem:

Best estimate 1800-1900, canceled cable, got tired of paying $66 a month and never anything on worth watching, also travel for work a lot and can't rely on internet so dvds keep me entertained. I don't trust the web cloud to always be available so if I like a movie I buy the hard copy wink

I have about 400 DVDs.  Most bought used off Amazon or eBay.  Quite a few in the $5.00 bin at Walmart.

So, how is that organized, or are those DVDs stored there in random order?
