This is getting ridiculous. Stacie halas was a science teacher, then the people in charge found out she had an 8 month career in porn in order to make some money during a financially difficult time. The porn industry is legal, it doesn't hurt anybody excelpt possibly the actors, she didn't rob a bank, she didn't kill anybody or rob anybody. She had sex on film. Evidently, those that were involved in getting her fired have lived a godly life. Maybe they should go back to religion in schools so they would remember that Christ said to the crowd who were going to stone Mary Magdalen that he without since shall cast the first stone. Evidently their were many in Oxnard that have lived a sinless life. She wasn't fired because she wasn't a good teacher. Also, teachers that go on strike do hurt others. They hurt the students who can't go to school during the strike. Maybe they should all be fired.
Student claims that the teacher was moonlighting as a porn star were initially dismissed after school officials said they couldn't find any images of her on the Internet – but they were using the school's computers, which don't allow access to porn.
On some level I understand where the school's side is coming from. Schools want good reputations so students will choose their school over other options and it's also part of the parents' decision and I know a lot of parents would not be okay with a woman who did porn teaching their kids. I know my mom would never've liked that very but. But on the other hand, it is unfair as it's the past and they have to understand that some people will do whatever it takes to make money just to put them in the direction they really want to go. I personally don't have a problem with people who do porn and I could care less what my teachers' pasts were like. I don't agree with how they handled that but if I was the teacher, I wouldn't wanna work there anyway if they aren't gonna treat her like the other employees.

lame. the school district, not the teacher. it's one thing to fire people for doing things that are illegal (i bet some of those administrators smoke pot) but for something that is legal? this one should go to the supreme court.

So, while many will focus on whether the work she did, and its impact, are fair or unfair, the real concern is: she knew what she was doing, she knew the potential impact, and she did it anyway.

Personally anyplace Sean Penn is a place I would avoid. Never been to Oregon or Hati but think I would prefer Oregon myself. Think more people die leaving Hati than trying to get in.

There may be other ways to make money but when you need money fast and in a decent amount, porn can be an option. Someone can make three grand a week just by masturbating online. Bam. There's your schooling paid for. And young people do have a tendency to make mistakes. They shouldn't be fired over it.

That is true, and I see the point. But at the same time I believe we should make sure that kids respect anyone who runs their classroom. If we let that fact allow teachers or whoever to be fired we are sending the message that it's okay to not have respect for someone who did nothing wrong to you...
I also disagree that they will definitely find them if no one points it out. If someone uses a stage name...you have to search through thousands of women to find that person. I know it happens, but I wonder how many people have done things like that and no one really knows...

I am drawing a mental picture here of the teacher wearing a really nice lacy bra, and having her blouse unbuttoned "just so," occasionally leaning over her desk to make a lesson point. She would have the little bastards' rapt attention all right!

in regards to that last paragraph, I meant "now that people already know, they will keep finding it". that's not something that goes away after a year or 2. if she stays as a teacher, students 10 years from now will still find their way to that video, cause others will keep telling them. it's just such a fun fact about your teacher...

I remember one time at a place I worked at a girl had a partial birth abortion...I think she was nearly 6 months along...these abortions are...well anyways it went around work and a lot of people were having a hard time respecting her after that. No one wanted to listen to her and anyone and everyone knew about something she told a woman there who was supposed to be a friend.
So anyways one day the owner of the company came out and said that people's personal choices don't mean that they aren't suited to be a boss there...and that anyone who can't respect their bosses or was talking about someone's personal business (and we knew who he meant)...would be the ones to go.
You better believe after that we all stfu. I can see where this was different but the point is once the boss put his foot down...it made a difference. The fact that people are going out of their way to bring up someone on the net from this woman's past and no one really knows why she had to do what she did...and we look down on her? That needs to change IMO because it was nobody's fucking business to begin with.
