Photo Shoots & Styling
Im planning on hiring a photographer and getting some models so I cant get some shots for my port, but I came to the conclusion that since I would be the one organizing the shoot, that I would need accessories and maybe even clothes for the models. Im not hiring at stylist, at least not for this one. But do any of you think that I should purchase these items since we primarily use head shots for our port? I would still need accessories and stuff huh? And clothes if they are going to do body shots. Jan 21 13 09:40 pm Link Why not ask the models to bring clothing and accessories? Give them an idea of what your looking to achieve. Ask your friends. That's what my friends and I do. You could always buy and return. But I didn't say that! Macys wouldn't like it! Jan 22 13 08:19 am Link As a makeup artist it's very important to have gorgeous headshots in your port. I wouldn't think a stylist is necessary for some awesome beauty shots that will showcase your work. However, a hairstylist may help if you do not do hair or a slicked back hairstyle so that the focus is primarily on the face would be awesome. You want to have strong images displaying your work before you focus on complimenting anyone else (styling). Jan 22 13 09:39 am Link Thanks everyone, I do hair as well. I think Ill go with the idea of having them in a basic top, or tube top and go from there. I guess that will help focus more so on the makeup. Or Ill just have them bring nice pieces they have and do a few shots with those. Jan 22 13 07:14 pm Link Most of the time I let the models know what I'm looking for and they bring a bunch of their own clothes & accessories. A lot of times they have stuff in their wardrobe they've been waiting to use in a photo shoot so just let them know what styles you're looking for and they're usually more than happy to help out.
