As in, I feel as though something is missing from my work and I would like  other's opinions of what area I could stand to improve the most.

I'm really looking to buckle down and bring my photography up a few levels; and since I have limited time due to being a grad student I'm looking for outside eyes to help me make the best use of my free time and energy to improve my work.

Thanks for taking the time to look through my work and I appreciate any helpful feedback people have time to share.

Haha Thanks!  But I really am just winging it with what I know from theater.  I don't know nearly enough to give critiques based on more than opinion.  But I do appreciate the compliment!

I can't give you pointers without being picky.  I can tell you that you are headed in exactly the right direction.  Follow what you like, and don't listen to any of us.  You'll gain polish as you go.  Trust your own gut.  You are better than 99.999% of the people here.

Robert, it's exactly that polish that I feel I'm missing.  Thank you for the vote of confidence; though I disagree with the last part, I'll keep shooting and working towards my goals.

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.

IMHO your concepts and your lighting are very strong. You can really see the theatrical background in the story in each image. The only weakness i can see is in your post processing and picky stuff like having vertical elements out of true, but as was stated earlier, that puts you ahead of 99%. However not being satisfied with that is a very good thing.

Sorry I just saw this now... And thank you for the comments here and on the image itself.  I really do feel like post processing is my weakest attribute; that polish that I feel I'm lacking.  That and making the basic mistakes of dropping true black and alignment; basic ideas that I still sometimes overlook.  Thanks for pointing this out.

I think you need to sharpen up your mental knife when deciding what is 'good enough'.

For example:

Is the image about the model or her tattoo? If it's about her, she probably shouldn't be cropped. If it's about her tattoo, it probably should be cropped tighter.

Just my opinion.

Interesting observation, it was from a shoot we were doing about her tattoo, and I took one to incorporate more of her as a whole in it.  I liked it because it really captured her personality, but I can see how I could have let that affect how I felt about the image...
