Heres what I do, I eat what I want, that including: fast food, steak, salmon ( my favorite because it is really high in protein and less fat ), sweets- oh how I love sweets, soy products, salad-fruits and veggies (love),and fries. Yeah thats right fries!!! lol  . And when I go to the gym, which is 6+ days a week, I really kick my own butt. smile Usually I do ellipticle for an hour, then run on the tred. for atleast 3-4 miles, then do my toning and strengthening for about another half hour. I don't mess around!

you can eat like that because you are 21. I live at the gym, and work very hard on my body, but still have to be careful about the foods I eat, regardless of exercise, because my metabolism has never been great (obesity in my family), but slowed down even more when I hit about 22 or 23. Some people manage to make it through most of their 20s before it happens, but it -most likely- will happen. I have the "jacked" body I have now because fitness is my life and breath, and am religious about eating as clean as possible. Even two weeks slipping up on my food will result in me having to bust out my fat-pants, regardless of how many hours I spend in the gym during those two weeks.

I'm a vegan. I have what most people would consider impressive muscles, considering I'm five feet tall and smallish in bone structure. It makes no difference. I can squat twice my own bodyweight, multiple reps. I have a deadlift heavier than a lot of large guys I train at the gym where I work. Whether or not one eats animal foods had nothing to do with it. It's getting
calories overall, timing one's food intake and being conscious of the amino acid composition of the foods you are eating.

I think you are my vegan hero. smile

I wouldn't consider myself to be fit, YET, but this is what I am doing to tone my body and strengthen up:

Diet:
Breakfast - Green Monster Shake (blended spinach, blueberries, soy milk, protein shake powder, chia seeds.)
Snack - fruit
Lunch - Salad with some form of protein
Snack - nuts
Dinner - Protein (tofu), veggies, and brown rice (or an equivalent, like quinoa).

Exercise: At least 3-4 days at the gym, 30 mins of cardio and alternating days of upper body/core and lower body. And yoga!

After gaining about 25lbs in the last 5 years (granted, much of that was probably because I'm trying to quit an eating disorder), I'm trying different things to see if they work. I have always done heavy lifting at the gym 3 times a week. No more synthetic hormones. I'm giving up fast food. I've noticed that pasta screws up my body, so I'm not eating that crap anymore. If I consume a lot of sodium, I take potassium pills to balance it. Doing little except walking to class between gym visits has proven to be a bad decision, so I'm trying to do things like rollerblade, even though it's 26 degrees F outside. Has anyone else had this problem where weight creeps up on them despite eating reasonably small meals? I'm tired of sucking in my little pooch on shoots, lol

My health is becoming really important to me because of issues in my genetics.
Last April I weighed 218, and was still in the 190's over last summer when I started modeling again! Today I'm about 157. Weight management (it's been really easy to lose without doing much cardio) is a big part of this. My primary form of weight management is diet management.

I've cut out 90% of my sugar intake. Before my weight increased to 218 I already for years had stopped drinking soda and most fruit juices. What helped kickstart my weight loss was getting off of medications and birth control I did not need. (It also helped lower inflammation in my cardiovascular system! yay)

I've learned towards an anti anti-inflammatory diet. You see people who are diabetic or who have Fibro eat a lot of high-protein grains, low carb fruits and veggies. That is what i am working on. So diet is a big part of this. Though a really low budget makes eating what I need at the quantities and regularity I need difficult, but I'm doing okay. This doesn't need to be perfect!

I also walk A LOT. I also have joined a gym.
My mobility restriction is that I have partially herniated discs in my neck, and so I have also been doing special excersizes to increase strength and endurance which will allow me to do more high intensity workouts. I'm no longer as injured as i had been over a year ago.
I am toning up now, but still have my Rubenesque figure, I may never get rid of that easily, but I get a funny feeling I'll still find people to work with despite the little bit of a belly I have!

So that is what I am doing. I'm making a huge conscious effort here, not just because i model (Modeling is a huge motivation for me), but because of my health and safety.
