what is artistic nude? Mar 02 13 11:02 am Link money_train wrote: A nude image that *you* find to be artistic. Mar 02 13 11:06 am Link MelissaAnn wrote: Some may find porn artistic. Mar 02 13 11:10 am Link I had a famous photographer once tell me : If the model is nude and looking at the camera, that's a nude photo If the model is nude and is not looking at the camera, that's an artistic nude To me, artistic nude means there is something in the image other than (again another quote) "balls out nude" For instance, a nude posing majestically, conforming with natural geometry like trees and nature, walking in rain with an umbrella, knitting, baking a cake, ninja sword fighting .. lol -- anything other than standing there, or giving us a gynecology lesson. Mar 02 13 11:12 am Link Oh! No!!! Not this again. Mar 02 13 11:15 am Link c_h_r_i_s wrote: Some find artistic nudes to be porn. Mar 02 13 11:30 am Link Like beauty, both artistic and porn are in the eye of the beholder. If it is devoid of sexuality then it's artistic.... well not always. If you find the universal definition of "artistic" you can start working on the universal definition of good and bad. I agree with the eye contact statement. If there is eye contact it is glamor and if there isn't then it's artistic.... well usually but with exceptions. Mar 02 13 11:31 am Link Art - a personal expression; a statement of the producer's vision, emotion, or world view. Nude - absence of clothing. If it communicates something substantive about how you see and relate to the world, includes one or more naked humans, you're there. Otherwise, you're not. With some of his other stuff it gets a bit more difficult for some minds/eyes to find artistic value. Mar 02 13 12:14 pm Link if the model has small breasts it's art. large breasts and it's glamour. lol. Mar 03 13 02:21 am Link I find it's a nude that some gallery will hang. Even better if it's a local gallery. The art market is fickle, and some things that are art today won't be tomorrow and vice versa. Mar 03 13 02:29 am Link Not spreadeagled Mar 03 13 03:01 am Link Mar 03 13 03:15 am Link c_h_r_i_s wrote: True...Artistic nude, or even nude can be porn or IT CAN NOT BE PORN. It's all about intent. Mar 03 13 04:03 am Link I just don't get the "eye contact" distinction. Whether a nude is artistic, pornographic or erotic is determined by how suggestive the pose is of sexuality. In my shots of nude men and women, I am trying to show the beauty of the human body. The emotion I wnt to convey is not sexuality (nothing wrong with that, mind you), but that sense of weightlessness that comes when you are knocked out by great beauty. Mar 03 13 06:59 am Link To me, artistic nudes are not meant to get someone 'hot', they're solely meant to show off the beauty of the human form. Mar 03 13 08:54 am Link Synster Veronica wrote: True. Beauty does not mean sex. Beauty is a way our soul sees the world. It is a personnal point of view. Mar 03 13 10:18 am Link It's all about lighting and the mood of the photo. The pose really doesnt matter. Mar 03 13 10:26 am Link i think the idea is while they might not get you hot they might get someone else hot. i've seen "art nudes" that were quite erotic (to me). that's where the mind of the viewer comes into play. Will everyone agree? Probably not. Do it anyway! Now get out there and shoot noods! Mar 03 13 10:43 am Link money_train wrote: Mar 03 13 10:59 am Link For me, artistic nudes are those that touch the spirit and soul and not the loins. It's the use of angles, shadows, and lighting that brings about an appreciation of beauty beyond the "OOO, LOOK...SHE NEKKID!" In these types of photos, your face doesn't have to be seen. Think of the sculptures/statues in Rome or Greece. Here's one of me done by the late Jerry Harke... https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/7047599 Mar 04 13 09:19 am Link money_train wrote: Depends on ones perception of art. Large breasted, shaved, model, in color, in a bed. And, however good it may or may not be, I see it as much more "art" than "glamour." Mar 04 13 05:24 pm Link An art nude is a nude that is unfit for masturbation. Mar 04 13 05:24 pm Link If the subject is nude and the intent was to create art, it is art. Whether it is received as such is determined by the individual viewer. Mar 04 13 05:38 pm Link JimBobLc wrote: I've seen plenty of "glamour" that is unfit for viewing, let alone masturbation.
