This is 100% serious. I couldn't make this up.

"I can't shoot now, I'm in witness protection."

My reply;

"You have photo's of yourself with your name on a modelling site."

Her;

"Thats my witness name. Anyways, I can't shoot now. I have to relocate."

As I said....I couldn't invent this stuff.....

Female model at last minute sends a text.  "can't make it, motorcycle is broke"
I live in Michigan, if you have a motorcycle...you also have a car.  That's a given here.

Flakes...

"My sister's boyfriend poured gasoline on her and set her on fire. I'm with her in intensive care."

Such a horrid crime was not recorded in local news media.

I was visiting a friend in the hospital and I had a shoot scheduled later that day. This is the text that I got.

MODEL: "OMG, I can't shoot today because I'm in the emergency room at the hospital".

ME: "Wow!! What happened?"

MODEL: "I got in a car wreck".

I took the elevator down to the emergency room to see if she was there.

ME: "You're in the emergency room now?"

Model: yeah, it sucks because they are so slow and I'm sitting in the waiting room in pain waiting for them to take me back".

ME: "Really? Well, there is only 7 people in the waiting room....and I'm one of them."

Never got another text from her since, lol.

My latest one was a text saying "I can't make it, family matters". Checked her port, she's in a club dancing the same day of the shoot. I guess some don't know that you can check the metadata...

Sunset at the beach shoot booked one week in advance, then confirmed the night before.

An hour before shoot time, I send my "See you in an hour! smile" text.

Received her reply 2 minutes later, "You bet! We've been shopping for a new plasma TV all day but we are done. C U soon!!! smile"

While setting up at the location, I receive a second text message from her 10 minutes before shoot time, "I think I have sunstroke. Spent all day in the sun. Have to cancel. sad"

I text back, "Right, sorry my mistake. I just assumed you were shopping for a TV in indoor electronics stores all day. Stupid me."

She texts back, "You don't have to be so rude and sarcastic!!!"

Nothing further from me.

I took some nice photos of starfish glistening at the shoreline, and a Great Blue Heron that, for some reason, allowed me to approach within about 10 feet and take all the shots I liked.

Scheduled a beach shoot, I live in Queens she lives in Brooklyn but I was staying with my grandfather in Brooklyn that week. So the road to the beach is the same

I text her
"see you at Jones Beach in 2 hours"
Her reply
"yes, I'm getting ready and out the door"

10 minutes before shooting time I get a text
"there is way too much traffic on the highway because of an accident, all lanes are closed. Can't make the shoot"

My issue is 2 fold .. first off how did I get to the shoot on time? second, as I drove back there was absolutely no accident on the other side, no traffic ... I didn't even bother rescheduling her.

I have had to cancel a few this year because of deaths in the family. I have  had 5 family members die in the last 16 months but I think photographers stopped believing me because I had so many, unfortunately it's actually the truth.

Text 1 hour before a shoot. I just got a new tattoo, that is really itching me. I don't think I can shoot today.

The night before a shoot that had been planned down to the last detail for two weeks: "If we aren't doing bodypaint, I'm not interested."

A few weeks after the shoot date: The model (from an East Coast state) said a major fire at her house had destroyed all her electronics, and she couldn't replace them until she got a check from the insurance company. The model, who is a wrestler, also said she broke her boot in a wrestling match. (I believe her.)

My own best: An 8-inch snowfall last March left 22 inches of snow and ice piled against my garage door. I broke my snow shovel trying to dig out. In fact, it was eight days before I could get my car out of the garage. (My house faces north, and the north side of the house, including the area around the garage door, doesn't get sunlight in the winter. Also, the wind was blowing north at the time of the snowstorm - and my driveway slopes down from the street.) True story. And that's why I always stock up on groceries when there's snow or sleet in the forecast.

My favorite excuse is the one you never get because they never show up, or call, or text, or email back, or anything....they just vanish into thin air.....

Not trying to be rude, but i gotta ask: are these ALL female models making up these excuses ??   I'd hate to think ONLY women do this kind of stuff ~~

The best one I gave was last week when i came home for 4 days shooting in Death Valley to find the roof on my studio area missing. Had a shoot the next morning and had to cancel. I knew I was getting my roof retiled but seems they had to remove everything and were therefore running behind schedule. Oh, and the floor was full of old wood and tiles that fell through the supports when they removed the roof. Had to clean all that up too. Fortunately all the lights and backdrops are at the other end. Hopefully the girl believes me. I sent a photo.

Oops, sorry, told the story a long time ago! Interesting to note the gaps in my memory. After 100 shoots, some details fade. But the story is the same. I forgot I got the last text to cancel after pulling out my gear. Now I'm mad again, lol.
