Sadly I bought the full meal deal before Christmas

Give them a ring and see what they'll do for you.  I have a friend that got refunded down to $149 for a purchase she made less than 30 days ago.  Maybe they'll throw you a bone.

^^That^^

I don't know the requirements, but they mentioned giving people refunds for the software if you paid more for them already.

onOne Software has a similar suite, and it looks like they're responding to the NIK pricing with a special promotion of their own.

Great, now I am confused.

This looks to be a temporary price war.

So which is better?

And which is truly better than what you can do in CS6 and LR4?

I will bet the price war will be over before you get a chance to truly test them out.
The onOne price break is good only till March 29.

It will be interesting to see if Google is trying to simply get more customers or whether they just want to drive revenue and will stop spending money on development and support.

Google has done it before with other acquisitions.

I think this is it - trying to get people to sign up for whatever account the need to do the transaction.

Well, I'm a Nik customer and I'm still waiting for an email.

I haven't found it in any spam folder, either.

Is that what it is? Making people get Google+ accounts?

I got the email for the free upgrade and downloaded them yesterday. I hope that in 30 days they don't ask for money.

If I recall correctly, the cutoff date was Feb 22nd. Unfortunately, I bought Color efex in January so, no refund for me.

Done.

Thanks for the heads up.

Spoke to some local photographers, and basically they really like it, mostly Silver. Yes you can do a BW conversion that is as good in PS, but much trickier and more time consuming.

Most of the rest of the collection is minimally used.

Same story with the onOne package.

So went with Nik.
Even if no longer supported, MS does that all the time when the buy out a company, the collection at this price seems to be a very good deal.
