...no hot dogs for you!

Seriously though, the flooding is insane.  Manhole covers popping off, basements with 3 feet of water, and the bike trail is completely nonexistent.  Shit, on some streets cars are floating away.

It doesn't even feel like it's rained that much!

Ai.

Damn, yo.

Ol' Man River (as people called in my home town) doesn't fuck around. Growing up in Memphis we were fortunate to live on the Bluff side. The rising river might flood (the appropriately-named) Riverside Drive but it never went much further than that. The Bluff is pretty damned high.

Our River Drive (also appropriately named) floods when the river does.  The river actually isn't too high right now so I'm kinda surprised it's to the hot dog stand, but that's also near a boat dock.  The rest of the river has a retaining wall to try and keep it in check.

When the Mississippi really wants to flood, it goes all out.

There's a huge possibility of flooding happening here after all the snow has melted. It's https://assets.modelmayhem.com/images/smilies/scary.pngsad

Yikes!!

The Wisconsin River shot up too.

Although with the drought we've had the past couple of years the extra moisture is nice but...it can stop raining/snowing anytime now hmm

I'm not in the flood plane for the river, and thankfully no one in my family has a house that gets water in the basement.  So although I don't enjoy the flooding, I don't really hate it either...well, except for all the road detours and the fact that it makes the pothole problem worse.

I do feel for everyone that has to deal with it though.  It's not an easy task repairing flood damage and it's a lot of extra stress that people don't need.

Our creeks are most of the trouble.  Davenport has a lot of protective measures regarding the Mississippi (though it does still flood every few years), and the hot dog stand is always the first victim, but when Duck Creek floods...that's hell.  There are lots of houses right along the trail  (the bike trail follows the creek) and when Duck Creek goes out of it's bank it wreaks havoc.  Drowns out entire streets, ruins homes...just nasty.  I think the last time it flooded was 10 years ago or so, and now I fully understand why everyone was so upset about it happening last time.

Isn't your area expecting more storms tonight?  We're still getting a little bit of rain, but not much.  :fingers crossed: it stops for good soon.
