I told a woman to listen to this song once:

The woman?  A mistress of a musician friend of mine.  Too difficult to be his friend anymore, especially when I would sit at his dinner table with his wife and knew what was going on.  Bet she did too.

Let me tell you about the other woman:

She was oddly jealous of me.  The guy?  Would never think twice about him.  Married/taken = off limits.  Plus, even if he were single, no thank you.  I had to befriend her because SHE would be at shows, not the wife.  Ugh

Found out they were 'together' a good 7/8 years.  There was one moment when he would have left his wife (great guy!) and she oddly refused.  That door opened and closed and 8 years later...

It's Valentine's Day.  The mistress is having a nervous breakdown. The married guy?  Gloated to me that he had sex with both his mistress and his wife, same day.  I just can't be friends with someone like that.

The mistress?  Loved the song, never took the advice/message.
It's true you know.

Just wow!

You might find this to be interesting. I once had a management role in a small club in New Orleans and used to book him, before he "had a name" in the music business. He is the closest thing to the original DB masters that I have heard in the modern era. Lots of fun to listen to!

Is Moody Blues considered to be blues?

I remember them from the late 60's.

Thanks. Sadly, I never learned anything about playing music when I was growing up.

I sometimes play the radio. I bought a flute once and learned some short etudes, but that's about it. My only two instruments.

Had to post this gem.   Cecil Barfield's "Georgia Bottleneck Blues" from an Art Rosenbaum field recording. Listen all the way to the end and see if you can tell that Barfield is saying "Georgia Bottleneck Blues".  Enjoy

that's tal wilkenfeld. she is an amazing bassist (not anywhere near the best ever, but very good), but the braless look definitely "propelled" her from a member of "the band" to stardom from that show.

ironically, one of the best drummers ever was playing on that song too, but nobody cares about vinnie while she is playing. smile

Braless or not, her talent is her talent; can't take that away.

I think I'll object to every guy that wears tight pants because the dick outline completely detracts from the playing.

How dare they.

Pretty much anything by Kim Massie. Any time she performs anywhere near a city with a Blues Dance scene,  people go. I got to dance to her during a live performance at a blues festival and it was magic.

Also porterdavis, great live, they know how to play for dancers( big bonus for me)

Gotta disagree. She's a star because she's very talented and because she can hang with the likes of Jeff beck, even though she's pretty young. She's also played with folks like Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Lee Ritenour, etc., etc.

Nice boobies are nice and all, but players at that level wouldn't look at her twrice, if she didn't have serious chops.

I can't remember the first time I saw Tal Wilkenfeld, but but wasn't the Jeff Beck/Crossroads vid. I think I was surfing bassists on youtube and came across her in "something." As is my habit when discovering new music/players, i surfed the net to find out about her.

She is very interesting - she started out as a guitar player and switched to bass. She also quit high school at a young age to concentrate on music. From there, she moved from Australia to LA, enrolled in music school and later moved to NYC (age 18) to work/play.

What I like about her the most, is pretty much what attracts me to certain other musicians - her sense of what I call "musicality." She plays her instrument in a way that says to me that she understands the role that style and feel have in music. In the six string guitar world, excessive speed has been the rage of many mediocre musicians. In the bass world, over dependence on slap techniques is pretty much the same.

For me, a musician who can evoke emotion through a variety of styles, techniques, etc., is the best. To each his/her own, I guess, but the shred masters and slap demons just don't do it for me.

This certainly isn't blues, but if it doesn't evoke emotion in a listener, I think that person is dead.
