Just got an email from 'Costco' saying my order couldn't be shipped due to an address problem, and that i had to fill out a form or face a 21% restocking fee. Only problem. I've never once shopped at Costco.

Be careful out there.

Copy and send it to Costco inform them on this matter. It's probably not coming from Costco.

I've been getting faux-Amazon emails telling me my order has shipped when I haven't ordered anything.  They have a legit look to them with hotlinks to track my order, and attached pdf files that they want me to click.  The hotlinks would probably take you to a bogus Amazon site.  The pdf's are probably virus.  I've been forwarding them to stop-spoofing @ the real Amazon site.  I've also been forwarding spam emails to [email protected].  I don't know if the forwarding does any good, but hopefully it will.

The scams are getting more sophisticated.  Back in the good old days, the bad English was a clear giveaway, as in "your photography will receive an appreciable fame".  The best bet is to never click on emailed links and attachments.  If you HAVE ordered something you want to track, then go to that website directly through your browser.  I've been telling friends and family for years that I won't click on emailed attachment, so don't send them.

From what I've read many of these "Shipping failure" notices contain the virus "cryptolocker" which will encrypt your files and then hold them hostage for a ransom payment. Unlike most of these attacks apparently the files really are encrypted and cannot be decrypted without the password. Extremely nasty attacks!

FWIW I've received notices from Amazon, Costco, Walmart, etc. Most seem to be coming from China.

Gmail is very good at detecting these fake emails and puts them in the Spam folder.

Lol. Yep, it went through my Comcast account.

It wasn't a good or convincing email, but it was well timmed.  Busiest shipping time of the year.

Remind me again why we are on friendly terms with China? hmm

Yup, me too. I've been getting a lot of fake Amazon emails with viruses attached.  Unreal.

Because they own a good portion of our debt.

Also.

A month earlier and they might have got me.
