Did a search, didn't find a thread on this (within the last year).

It seems as though a lot of folks using iOS use Easy Release. There is an Android version of it, but based on the reviews, it's missing a lot that the iOS version has (custom text for the release, adding banners/headers, import/export to contacts, etc.), and doesn't appear to support online syncing or have a web interface for content editing.

Anyone use this on Android? Thoughts?

I also saw an app called Model Release Master. There is also a paid version for $4. The paid version supposedly supports importing/exporting of contacts, syncing between devices, web interface for content editing, but the reviews seem to point to a lot of the functionality not working as advertised--

Anyone using the free or paid version of this?

I have Release Lackey.  I usually use paper releases, but it's nice to have it on my phone/tablet if I need it.  The developer is a really nice guy and helped me to import the language I use in my releases.

I have an Android tablet, but actually prefer the paper release that I can file away later.  If the tab's battery is dead, so is your release.  Worse if you have to reload the OS for a problem and/or it gets erased.  I'm not too keen on keeping "filing away forever" clutter (e.g. Images. Texts. etc.) on the computers, phones, or tablets.  Can't stand LR for its nagging cataloging as I keep no images on the edit workstation at all once job is done.

So I just made up a PDF release "template" in PS and copy their MM head-shot avatar image onto the release PDF template so I know them by the photo and can print up a couple of hard copies, and they can have one if they want.  Can't do that easily (A copy.) in the field off the tablet or if the MUAH wants or needs one either.  I also keep a blank release in the camera bag too rather than pulling out the tablet and firing it up.

I carry far too much crap as it is and have to cut back hauling stuff around so I left off the laptop and tablet last time and never missed them. Tethering in the field slows me down to 1/10th of what I normally shoot too running back and forth between all the devices.  I also tend to leave stuff behind if I take too much which is another costly problem.

I just downloaded the free version of Model Release Master and created my own release form online with the web interface. Hard to get a good feel for it until I can import model contacts from my phone.

But both I listed above support emailing signed releases to all parties and saving as PDF even to Dropbox or online (looks like LR does this as well). I prefer to have paper copies too, but seems like this will still allow me to print one out 9although one of the knocks on the app I downloaded is poor PDF quality). I have a $4 credit on the Play store...tempted to just get the paid version and test it out.

Does LR allow for import/exporting of model info into the app or syncing across devices?

I prefer real paper and keep blank forms with me at all times.  As one of the previous said, probably would be a good idea to have the tablet version just in case as a backup.

I realize many prefer paper. I am asking folks that have used an Android app for this and what their feedback is.

For those who like paper, you do realize you can easily print a paper copy anytime after it is created, right?

While I wish EasyRelease had the ability to edit the text or make addendums prior to  the signature, I do like the fact that it has to be re-signed if any changes are made to the basic info, and that the ID photo is attached to the file.

By emailing myself a copy to two different accounts it is also backed up. How many people store photocopies of their paper forms off-site to protect against fire, etc?

Release Lackey is nice in that it creates a PDF of the signed release which you can e-mail to the model and/or yourself and print and file away if you like.

I've been using the free version of Model Release Master for well over a year now.  It has replaced all my paper releases.  I can create profiles for each model, which contains their contact info, age, and you can even assign a profile photo.  I can customize the text, but I find the original text works well enough.  After the release is signed, I can email it directly to the model and myself.  And another feature that isn't usually mentioned - you can back up profiles online to the app's server.  I found this handy when I had to do a factory reset - all I had to do was sync the app and I got all my profiles back.

I would recommend this app.

I use Photographers Contract Maker. It gives you different templates that you can edit, and it too converts to PDF and automatically sends copies to you and the client. I have one on my tablet and phone ( just in case I forget the tablet) tongue

Cheers

I have one of those model release apps for Android but I didn't want to spend the time figuring it out (gave me a headache - lol) so I just created a pdf version of my releases for my phone and tablet and use an app called SignNow where models can fill out the pdf and sign it. The file gets saved onto the app's servers, cloud storage, or you can save it on your device also. If there's no wifi or data available it'll upload when it's available.

I also have paper releases as backup.

I broke down and bought the paid version of Release Master, but disappointed that the contact import feature doesn't work (the main reason i bought the paid version). Been in touch with the developer, but the import doesn't work on my GS4 or Nexus 10 tablet.

Otherwise, I got my own custom template created (with headers/logos) and all the fields I want. Ready to test this sucker out.
