I am seeking people on MM who have experience with Complections College of Makeup Art and Design (a beauty school in Toronto, Ontario). I am interested in becoming a MUA and I have heard positive things about CMU, so I am considering taking one (if not more) of their courses after the summer.

If you have experience with CMU ...
• How was the environment? Hands-on? More independent? Friendly? Intimidating? Did you feel comfortable asking questions and/or asking for help?
• Did you feel that the course lived up to its description?
• What did you like and/or dislike most about the program? Why?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Camille

they offer tour around the place.  just speak to their registration and see if they can arrange someone to take you around. it would be great to take a look and see yourself what it is like.  just be prepared to pay a lot $$$.

there's a few other great schools around. I recommend you checking out a few first before signing up for one.

I'm a 2005 Complections Grad.
I can not speak for how it is now.. its changed hands, locations and teachers since i attended.. but I must say my experience was awesome.. aside from the bitchy girls in my class, i really feel it gave me a good foot to stand on and start my career.
I will however say that just because your going to a high $$$ school doesnt mean much in the real world unless you put your self out there and work your ass off..
in order to be a successful artist you must really put your self out there to find work it wont find you.. schools will be helpful to get basics under wraps and to understand some of the industry ins and outs.. but it will not give you an "in" in the industry.. they flat out told me by attending their school i would be working on film sets the day i graduated... this was not true.. it did work on sets but not in the manner in which i imagined..
ask you self.. where do i want to work in the industry??? if its a counter job.. skip the school and apply at the store...
