Hi all I joined the sight two weeks ago and now have 5 shoots booked in. As a newbie should I be getting as much experience with as many photographers as possible?? I need to build up my portfolio. Dawn x

Yes.

Welcome to the Mayhem hienvy

Three good ways to network are:

Post an availability notice letting people know that you are available (under the casting/travel tab). This is for when you want to charge money. You can offer trade as well.

Search for Casting Calls in your area based on criteria you select. Post a Casting Call letting people know about an idea you have and want to put into a work of art. This is for when you are willing to pay other people. You can offer trade as well.

Search or Post Casting Calls and Travel/Availability Notices

Browse for photographers in your area and leave comments on images you like, send a friend request or message. Start a list of photographer's photos that you think are top notch for photographers in your area. This can become something of a Rolodex. Make sure that you select the Advanced Options and select an appropriate Logged in within:. I typically use 30 days, but you may want people who respond faster. Otherwise you will get photographers who haven't logged in in over a year. There are a lot of inactive accounts.

Good luck in your search!

Welcome to the Mayhem!

It looks like you're off to a nice start; as far as booking shoots and getting experience, I would say yes, you should shoot a fair bit. I would advise you to try a variety of types of work (don't just stick to light erotic content(, both to see what you like and as a way of gaining additional exposure.

You may find that it would be worthwhile for you to work with top photographers in your area as well; you might be able to arrange a "time for photos" shoot, or you might find that it would be to your benefit to pay a local pro whose work you think is high quality.

Quality...not quantity...is what builds a good portfolio.  Seek out photographers whose style you like.  There is no substitute, however, for time in front of the camera with a good photographer.

You've likely shown up as a new model in a MM search.  The models that generate the quickest interest are nude models that do erotic work and don't charge anything.  You are like fresh bloody meat in shark infested waters, and there are opportunists that check that list everyday hoping to contact a new, nude model before someone else does.

In short order you will find that some photographers are "real" photographers, and some really aren't. So....my strongest advice would be to always know who you are shooting with.  And understand that, while you like modeling, it is also a service, and has a monetary value.

If you don't need the money nude modeling can offer, and like doing it for free, you are unique.  Especially if the work is being sold, and you aren't being compensated in the process.

Good luck and welcome to MM.
