I'd like to try some pin-up. Can any of you nice models link me to any good websites for clothes?

The above two have the best pinup clothing, but it's pricey.  I've found Mod Cloth has some good pinup items like swimwear and dresses:  http://wwwmodcloth.com

So that you don't spend a bunch of money on clothes, sometimes if you find a local clothing store that carries vintage or vintage inspired items, they'll let you borrow clothing for shoots in exchange for the use of photos from the shoot.  I'm lucky to have a great store in my town that carries pinup clothing and doesn't mind loaning it out for shoots smile

I've found gems on ebay, it takes some time but they're there.

Thanks! I never thought about asking at stores. I'll check out my area to see if there's anyone around.

I've been looking on e-bay and in antique stores. I can't believe the price on some of the stuff in the antique stores!

The answer is simple...

TC Vintage on Model Mayhem. You can rent from 4000 vintage and pin up garments. The most and best I have seen

Check out Hello Violaceous. She's just starting her traditional fabric line (she's a former latex designer) but she has some really cute stuff and does custom orders. Always good to support small business, and she's a really nice girl.

The best:

Plus use ebay to search forties and fifties designers and labels.

Or try booking models who specialize in projecting the authenticity of the look. As most of the brands do. I know for example that the burlesque girls, get a lot of these modelling gigs . So search on Google "burlesque, model mayhem" and your area, or nearest primary market , or major primary markets like LA.

If you did it in London you'd come up with some of the top acts in the world and top models in the genre. For example you'd get Chrys Columbine. She has incredible period wardrobe, lingerie that cost thousands. Many are sponsored by companies and designers, or we get clothing from editorials and ads as part payment. For eg I come with £ks worth of Wheels and Dollbaby and Agent Provocateur plus a case full of seamed stockings, peep toes, Dior new look dresses, quality vintage furs etc. I never got booked by a photographer who didn't shove his wardrobe to one side when he saw mine. Models with this stuff are cheaper than trying to buy it, and more bankable if you are approaching press offices.

You will have to sort wheat from chaff, and you nay have yo look further afield than your locale. Even if there are pro burlesque girls in your, area,  some may be alt or performers (fire eaters) etc rather than what you want. But burlesque girls tour and that's when to get them. So look at the primaries.

I can't believe for eg that Lily LaRue is on MM and her port has hardly had a hit and then we have to hear how you guys can't find models. Anyway she will have great wardrobe.

Then there's Eva Strangelove

Then Mia Vixen who models for Stop Staring

As does Tara Mi Sioux.

Don't expect these models cheap. But may be cheaper long run than buying wardrobe and get you a more authentic look if you haven't got stylists, etc.

Good luck!
