How is it they seem to have endless air if the dome has cut them off the outside world, and the diner never runs out of food or drinks, and the water never runs out?

Do sewage pipes run through the dome, where does all the poo go?

I know "it's a TV show" but.......

Well, if you have watched it this season you know they ARE running out of food. Last season discussed the no water as well. I suppose septic tanks could be a solution to the "poo". I have no explanation for the air issue.

Haven't seen a single episode.  Haven't read the book.

If there are trees, grass and sunlight, there will be "air".  Animals produce carbon dioxide, plants capture the carbon and release oxygen through photosynthesis.

I read the book and I don't know how they are able to draw this out for two seasons. This should have been one of those mini-series, 5 or so episodes like The Stand was.

Also in the book I believe they were trapped for less than a week, don't quote me, been a few years since I read the book.  But either way, like was mentioned, there are a ton of trees and plants trapped with them and the area encased in the dome is huge. It goes miles and miles into the sky and some unknown distance underground.

I think its supposed to be a self contained eco sphere, but there is creative license going on too.

It's not a retelling of the book.  It's more of a re-imagining of it.  The characters pretty much have the same names and background stories, but the plot is totally different.

Ah. Like the Dead Zone series. Which I enjoyed, pretty much.

How about sealing a large bottle for 40 years and see how it goes?

Man, that is FOR REAL

(sometimes, reality is more bizzare and stranger than fiction...)

Spot on. My wife is just now reading the book, which I finished a few months ago and it's killing me to keep my mouth shut on the differences between the two. Except for the dome and some of the characters it's like two different stories.

Only in the book Junior was a real monster and liked raping if he didn't get his way with women.

And the dome was put on the town by alien teenagers to see what would happen.

Like the old fashioned "Bug Catcher" toys
