I'm in the process of revamping my port and would like some feedback/constructive criticism please. Anything in particular that should go? What's hurting my port, besides the pic of me? Aug 09 14 07:32 am Link I'll give it a go. I'm just talking here about your MM images. First - you have some really lovely images in there. I got no status enough, to knock any of the technical side of your shots. Secondly - pretty much every image has the model filling the frame, or damned near filling it. As a result, a view of the thumbnail page started to look a little "Same" to me ("Model filling screen sort of image") If you have the locations - it would be wonderful to mix in some of those shots - letting the models interact with their environment - letting people's imaginations have a little more to chew on. Patrick Sep 23 14 05:44 am Link Thanks Patrick. Your feedback is much appreciated. Sep 23 14 05:57 am Link I don't think this photo is serving you. Model's expression immediately caught my eye as a photo that doesn't belong. Lighting is also very harsh in my opinion. Could be improved by using a scrim, shooting earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon for better quality light. The pose, the way the image is composed, the lighting...would toss The angle, composition, aperture setting, the way her necklaces are positioned (they're a distraction). Model seems to be taking up too much of the picture frame. Would toss. Model's expression, pose, composition...you have better photos in your port. The angle, composition, background, lighting...toss I would suggest picking up a copy of one of the Goliath books (ie: My Favorite Model), The New Erotic Photography, etc and studying what many of these photographers are doing. Their lighting, concept, location, model posing, composition, backgrounds, etc. Compare/Contrast and apply learnings to your upcoming shoots. https://www.goliathbooks.com/ What seems to be missing, at least in this group of shots, is the overall mood of the images. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say, but what exactly makes an image sexy or erotic (other than an attractive model)? What separates a tastefully and artfully done photo from one that would be considered porn? Sep 28 14 08:26 am Link |
