I know that this has been asked time and time again. So my only problem isn't that I'm petite it's that I've got some crazy curves and very specific clothes and styles fit me. So I am wondering, what is the best angle and way to photographer a petite model? How do petite models find designers to work with them? Don't say it's not possible because I've worked with designers I just want to work with more. What's the most appealing clothing for someone who is petite?

Just to be clear my measurements are not the norm:

33 Hips
25-26 waist
Bra size is 30-F

Yes, 30 F. I have only found one bra store that actually caries my size.

Please no being mean to the model, I just want to know the best way to show off what I do have.

Thanks!

First, you asked what is the best angle and way to photographer a petite model?: The "best angle" is the one that works for the shot, period. The type of poses etc. that work when you're going for a more high fashion look fall flat when you're shooting more commercial style images and that holds true whether a model is petite, plus or industry standard. In that regard you need to be both open-minded and aware of your body. I always suggest to new models that they spend time posing in front of the mirror naked so that they get used to their angles without relying on the clothes to carry the images for them.

Second, You asked petite models find designers to work with them but noted that you have measurements that may be difficult to fit properly. My suggestion is to be thankful for the designers you've found who can work with your body and build relationships with them. Additionally, look for a stylist as opposed to a designer depending on the kinds of shoots you're doing. If you're trying to shoot for petite clothing labels than obviously you need to work with designers directly but with your measurements it's highly unlikely you'd work as a fit model. If you're shooting as a hobby though, a stylist could help you get some different looks.

Third, you asked what the most appealing clothing is for petite models. Again, I'm inclined to tell you to defer to the type of shoot similar to the best angles BUT if you're setting up the shoot yourself you'll want shorter skirts or very well fitting pants and heels always help.

Good Luck!

It depends on what the photo is for. If I'm asked to market swimsuits on a petite model, I'd probably angle your legs toward the camera and angle my normal lense up to elongate your legs. If I were asked to shoot a pants suit, my telephoto lense would be perpendicular to your body. I'm not sure why you are asking, a good photographer will be making dozens of decisions at the time of the shoot. If you have suggestions for him/her based on your past shoots, mention them.

If it were me, I'd go into a shop dedicated to petite sizes and note all of the labels, then contact those design houses. Or, I'd ask other petite models.

I'm going to defer to a stylist, but my guess would be sportswear. BTW Tiffany's post makes good sense to me.

PETITE MODELING IS MY TOPIC HOLLA!
Here's the thing, you already look good as a petite model. You're petite? You look good. As far as clothes things to make you look taller are, anything with a high waist, ankle boots, no long tops, heels, long dresses with heels. Basically nothing that'll shorten your legs. And embrace your curves, curves are sexy.
As far as photography, they should shoot at a lower angle. Remember to ALWAYS elongate yourself, stand on your toes if you need to. Have your feet a little closer to the camera. Whatever is closer to the camera will look bigger. With that being said, if you want to look a little flatter, have those angled a little away from the camera.
You could give glamor modeling a try, you would do amazing with those curves. Height isn't important and curves are embraced.
As far as finding designers to work with, network, network, network. Promote yourself with what you have, use it for you rather than against you. Find designers in your area, contact them for if they ever need a model, send in comp cards and bring something to the table. I'm 5'2 and within the 3 months I've been modeling I've done some runway, most of the things I've recently been getting have been with designers and boutiques, a local magazine publication and another coming up soon. Not to sound like that's bragging but really to say it's possible. The secret is self-confidence. Loving what you have and instead of finding ways to hide it but extenuating it. When you carry yourself in a confident way, people will like it. The things that make you different are what separates you from the rest, some will hate it and some will love it. There's a lot of negativity towards models of different shapes and sizes but you've got to have thick skin and just keep networking yourself, and promoting yourself. For me personally, my face is what sells me as well as the confidence I've developed about my height without being overbearing about it (ex "I know i'm short but i'm prettier than everyone else and better than everyone! I'm going to change the industry!" Sure you may think that but it's what you do not what you say.)
There's plenty of designers out there and if you can bring something to the table no one else has, they'll use you. Trust me. It's just not enough to be as good as someone who is tall and has no curves but you've got to be better.

Shooting from low angles can make any model look taller. This photo looks to have been shot from a relatively low angle and it is one of the best in your portfolio:

Thank you for the advice on all the clothes. As far as my legs I actually have long legs and a smaller torso. I'm not worried about the photagraphers shooting from those angles. However, I did realize that certain poses tend to make a person look shorter.

Thank you ! I actually DON'T think that was a low angle because I walked down some stairs for that photo to be taken.

You're 5'3 and you wear a 30F bra, so I would say your best bet if you want to make money would be to do Maxim-style glamour photos, wearing lingerie or swimwear, and/or nudes.

No matter what angle the photographer shoots you from, nobody is going to mistake you for a 5'11 fashion girl. I would suggest playing to your strengths.

Is that what you're asking - how to make money?

Or are you asking for advice on how to make money as a fashion model?

simple. work with a photographer who knows what they are doing. otherwise, nothing you do matters.

if you insist, then you have to do the leg work finding them yourself. likely it will be newer, small designers not needing to produce sample sizes or producing for a specialty market.

Probably the smartest solution. smile

Clothes seem to seriously hamper the demand for and potential success of petites.

And it's less expensiveand easy to travel.

But to our OP, everything that can be done photographically is also done to tall models like shooting from below the eye line.  There is no substitute for height but dressing in items with leading lines, avoiding poses that shorten limbs, or poor fitting clothes can all help.

Granted with you stats you already know that proper fit is difficult, so you may be on your own for that.  A stylist isn't going to expect it and chances are things won't fit.  Still keep lots of clips, pins and what not with you so you can adjust garments to you.

How to look good as a petite model?  First step, choose your parents and select your genetic code.  Well, we can't really do that, so what you have as far as genetics is what you have.  Aside from the gamut of skin care, hair care, and a good workout routine that suits you, I'd say wardrobe, posing, and working with photographers that have experience working with petite models such as yourself.

I think this is the best advice you're likely to get.  You have a unique body size and as such, you would be in some pretty good demand for it.  Embrace that opportunity.
