I recently organized my portfolio into albums by model, which I think was a mistake. I sort of liked seeing a whole group together on the page, which you still can if you scroll down below the albums. The work is fairly consistent in content and style, so the only way to divide it was by model. What do you think? Albums or no albums? Feel free to critique whatever. Aug 14 14 02:35 pm Link I sort of like the IDEA of albums....but when I'm quickly viewing a portfolio, I don't push on albums, I just scroll down, find an interesting picture, or move on. I haven't done a scientific study or anything....but basically, I think albums end up hiding work instead of showing it. Aug 14 14 02:40 pm Link I agree with the other post. The only way I would use albums is by genre. Many times in click on a portfolio that has albums grouped by a photographer or model and I skip right over it, because it's too much back and forth. Aug 14 14 03:02 pm Link I like using the album approach because I shoot in a range of genres. So, especially those who might be interested in beauty, portrait, and fashion work can jump straight to those areas, while those interested in fine art and nudes can jump to those areas. Amidst a portfolio which DOES contain a lot of figure nude work, I think it helps make a very strong distinction between genres, and makes a strong statement that I do NOT shoot only nudes, or expect all of my clients to be shooting any type of nude work.
