Depends on the costume design.  Not really digging the casting but then again I thought Ledger would suck as The Joker lol.

I'm not really familiar with Aquaman admittedly...so I base any "could it be cool" opinions based on what I know of The Submariner, which would be "No...it can't work for film."  I just don't think the whole idea is a very interesting one for the big screen, but who knows...

I'm still looking forward to the movie regardless of the casting decisions, as I'm probably one of 14 people in the world who actually really liked Man of Steel.

Man of steel was cast and acted very very well, the story in of its self was very good, but it was the same story that we already knew. Why retell the same story? if they would of taken him elsewhere maybe introduced a villain that hasn't made it to the big screen yet like Mister Mxyzptlk or Bizarro.

Very true.  I am a bit concerned about seeing Lex Luthor again in a Superman film...so hopefully they'll add in some big baddie (the rumors or Metallo would be cool) to be a main villain and Luthor a smaller role.

Oh, I am so done with Lex Luther, as far as I'm concerned he's never been done well, If they do do him they need someone bigger, tougher, more maniacal, and genius level intelligence like Heath Ledgers Joker but more refined and polished.

As far as Aquaman goes he needs to be badass, a true guardian of the deep.

I would assume since mankind has had no previous dealings with his kind (often) that he must come from great depths, the Mariana Trench or deeper, thus giving him incredible the ability to withstand pressures of magnitude in such also great strength, I would dare say comparable to Superman's.

Also given his environment he probably has other talents that haven't been disclosed yet.

The only real concern I have, is that they're introducing several characters all in the same film...maybe it'll be too much, and suffer from very little character development.  It's not like Avengers where we had solo films leading into a group film.  Yeah, we know Batman/Superman...but now WonderWoman, Aquaman, and the rumored guys (Flash, Cyborg, Zsasz, Morgan Edge, Cain, Luthor, etc) might be way to much to cover, even in a 3hr film.  Would've preferred some lead-ins in MoS at least.

They are going to have to play to their strengths Superman & Batman (no pun in tended) and then have the others basically as filler begining with some character development.

But with introducing some characters without a background story as you've said is going to be a tough sell.

The villain doesn't need a lot of background as long as who ever it is plays it as well as Loki or the Joker. So that may be the saving grace to give the heros more time.

I don't know, I still dig these type of movies, I just hope its worth all the hype.

Yes, he's pretty much indestructible, bulletproof, very strong, fast, able to see in pitch darkness, not afraid of straight up murdering those in need of it.

It could be cool if they gave him a more murderous tone...maybe a badass temper? Maybe vindictive for what we've done to the ocean.

I could see him cutting superman some slack because he's not from here (but his kind did blow up their own planet) But I could see him holding batman culpable because he's from Gotham one of the biggest dirtiest cities known

Does he have a kryptonite (or whatever)? Or is he just infinite? Because if the latter, seems like a pretty boring plot.

I think his Kryptonite is being out of or away from water for too long. No I doubt his strength is infinite less than the hulks but almost to Superman's.

I'm sure Snyder will take creative license with the costume like he did with Supes, WW, and to an extent Batman (veering away from the style we've seen in the last half dozen or so films).

Character does sound very Sub-Mariner-ish so that's good to hear...the costume admittedly had me worried he was a soft.  Hopefully Mamoa surprises me like Ledger did.

Isn't the Rock supposed to be in this too?  Or am I getting movies mixed up...

ETA: the fan art in the OP looks pretty badass to me, wouldn't mind something like that.  More modern, less campy.

Everytime I hear about Aquaman, this comes to mind...

I liked Jason in Game of Thrones though (even though he didn't have much dialog), so I'll give him a chance on this.

Would be cool to see Aquaman vs Prince Namor of Atlantis.

You can google that it was a cartoon around the same time as Aquaman appeared in Superfriends.

I think Jason's longest role wasn't it Stargate Atlantis?

If the character and story are executed well, then sure.

Aquaman always kinda bothered me as a member of the Justice League. If they went anywhere for any length of time, Superman was left carrying the aquarium. Literally a fish out of water. It's a big ocean, and there was plenty of room for adventure in his own domain.

That's all that I know him from.  Totally cool, badass warrior dude.  But then I saw Momoa on a talk show, and the bubble burst.  The real Momoa seemed to be this hesitant, inarticulate, Metrosexual-looking show biz type.  Oh, well, maybe he's a good actor.

Well, this was fun, but a cool dude like me can't stay too long on the computer.  I gotta run down to the comic book store, in case a real girl came in to ask directions or something.

IT COULD HAPPEN!
