The best online list of all cameras and lenses I've found which can be sorted by manufacturer and release date is from dpreview.

For cameras:
http://www.dpreview.com/products/cameras/all

For lenses:

I have been searching the web for a similar list, but one that also includes camcorders/video only cameras as well.  Does anyone know if such a comprehensive list exists?

a list may be of historical interest but it seems like those lists are obsolete almost as soon as they are typed in. and often it's the newest stuff that is of the most interest. and i imagine keeping them current would be a chore.

Ridiculous.

I use DPReview's list of camera and camera information all the time.  Usually for conversations on this site.

New cameras are announced a few times a year at the more major industry conventions.  DPReview is a non biased site that always has the previews up as soon as the NDAs lift.

They have the absolute best (in my opinion) interactive and complete comparison information for ISO performance and resolution for a very wide range of cameras.  I have never once in 10 years, bought a new camera body without extensively comparing it with the tools they provide on that site.

You should take a look.

No list of video cameras?  Wikipedia has a few of manufacturers but no release dates.  sad
