Really interesting art. There is a caricature like effect but the stare is so intense and the expression so dire that there is no room left for laughter. The disheveled hair is touching, almost as if the subject were harried and should not be so, after all she is being manifested in a portrait, so why does she look so intently serious? Then we begin to question her sanity. The throat band which before had served to assure us of her posh readiness and sophistication could now be seen as a mere prop. An absent mindedly worn superfluous detail, or worse! a calculated ruse... designed to lull us into a false sense of security. The light shines from behind her, brilliant in the rear ground of the image, however this serves only to bring the subject even closer, perhaps uncomfortably so... The woman's stylishly arranged hair tells of modernity and its travails and arduous paths, her neatly worn brows even more so... but the plain bulk of darkness she wears for garment speaks of older concerns. This woman, like so many suspected of harboring overly zealous thoughts before her, may not have time or inclination to concern herself with what patterns adorn her clothes. Black suits her. Suits her epical mood, as does the lip gloss, which serves to bring out her full, sensuous lips and mouth. Delicacy allied with intensity, this image is beautiful! Superbly executed and highly thought provoking. Haunting in the extreme. Unforgettable look in her eyes.
