I have a BFA in studio arts (photography concentration) I recently moved to Asheville NC from VT. I photograph both women and men, clothed or nude. In the past I worked only with silver gelatin printing, but lately (due to no darkroom) I have been working on digital, also I use polaroid film and a Holga, along with my 35mm. My goals are to have a lot more gallery shows, become famous. Or own my own gallery.

Rachael Marie Demeo. For several months now, Sugar Gallery has doubled as Modern Myths vintage clothing store. While the aisles of groovy shirts and bellbottoms make for a cramped First Thursday experience, we're glad the gallery is doing what it takes to stay open. Rachael Marie Demeo's untitled photographs look like a cross between low-budget Justine Kurland and the "Updates" page on HippieGoddess.com. Which is a good thing. There's something marvelously creepy about Demeo's earth mothers crouching by waterfalls and lying in the snow, cloaked in animal skins and sprouting antlers. Photography that finesses the line between romanticism and kitsch has long been Sugar's strong point, and it continues in this show. , Closes Sept. 28 2008
