When I take a photograph, my goal is to capture an image that the viewer won't soon forget. I want to evoke desier in the viewer; I want them to wish they could have been there when it was taken. To me, the art of taking an outstanding photo is more than just simply taking a picture of a woman in a sexy outfit. To me, the true art in creating such a photo is successfully capturing the essence of the model's personality. Being dressed in something sexy is one thing, but the unique look a woman gives the person she's dressed up for as she's wearing it is what's most important when you're trying to manipulate the viewer's emotions on more than just a visual level.
I believe the setting of a photograph can make or break the goal I'm trying to achieve. I don't have a studio and I don't want one. Studio photography is almost always sterile-looking. There's nothing realistic about a beautiful woman posing in front of a bare white backdrop or on a prop. I prefer to shoot a model in a "real world" setting. Placing the model in a setting the viewer can identify with (a street, a room, etc.) breaks away from the sterile catalog look and makes the viewer feel like they could have been there. I love working with women who don't typically dress in the types of outfits they're posing in. Doing so often helps transform the model's persona a bit, bringing something out of them that normally isn't brought out. I find it usually brings that extra element out that I'm looking to capture.
