About Me

I was a full time freelance photographer for 10 years while I was living in Chicago.  I think it was some time around year 8 that I got very bored with the day to day of the business side of things. It's far too long of a story to tell here, but basically I was just uninspired. A few years ago I moved back to the east coast, where I grew up. Now days I shoot only who and what I want. I am also pursuing other artistic and creative endeavors, anything that I find inspirational.
I still do the occasional photo shoot when a model approaches me or if I come across a model I feel has unique appeal. I guess now, I would be considered a part time photographer but creativity is still a full time gig. I recently turned the barn on my property into a new workshop and eventually the upstairs will be a photo studio. Soon I hope to be shooting quite a bit more than I have for the past few years.
I used to say, "I still prefer film over memory cards" but that has recently changed.  I was dragged kicking and screaming into the digital world. It took a while but, I have learned to enjoy my digital cameras. I think I might just love my Pentax with their limited lenses but even so, I'll never give up my medium format cameras. I rarely bust them out these days but even if they spend most of their lives behind a glass door, they will always be there.
I believe a model's attitude is ultimately more important than her appearance in creating a beautiful photo. I tend to believe beauty can just happen, the key is to be paying attention and having a camera pointed in the right direction to capture that moment.  I like photo shoots to be free flowing, in the sense that I would rather take a hundred shots to get one great photo instead of setting up for 30 minutes to get the perfect shot  All photo shoots must be collaborations between the photographer, the model and the light.
One of these days I'm going to get around to scanning the thousands and thousands of negatives I have in storage and post more of my older film work from my time in Chicago.
If you're a model in the Boston/Merrimack Valley area and like my work please feel free to contact me. I will do TFP, as well as paying shoots with models I think have that certain something.
Warm regards to all who read this far,
