Jerold Schnauss has been involved in photography for over thirty-five years. Having worked with film for many years, more recently he has switched to digital for the most part. Over those years Jerold has primarily photographed women, striving to show the beauty, personality and even the imperfections of the many models with whom he has worked. It is not always about being pretty or "perfect" but more of capturing the mood, feeling and depth of the moment and the experience...His images often tell a story, that both reflect his unique style, and the individual qualities of his subjects. He is an artist, and does not actively pursue the commercial side of photography. Each photo shoot is a true collaboration between photographer and model. His directing is subtle and low key, allowing the model to explore and express herself serendipitously as the shoot evolves and unfolds. There may be a point of departure, but where things go from there?--The shoot goes where it goes, as the energies and intuition of the participants express themselves in whatever ways they may. Though very professional, you will find Jerold's approach to be relaxed, undemanding and generally fun!
During the late 1980's, Jerold studied photography at the University of Arizona, in Tucson, where he received his BFA degree, photography emphasis. His work has been in publications, and exhibited in galleries. For some years, he taught photography locally, and has hosted a photography-related show on Access Tucson television. He primarily shoots on location, often outdoors, and prefers working with natural lighting. His shoots are typically kept simple, as it is the skill of the photographer and model that leads to the creation of outstanding imagery, not having a ton of equipment, and complicated set-ups. Themes vary according to individual preferences. Those themes may range from soft and romantic, to more edgy...even dark and disturbing; including surreal, fantasy, fetish and erotic.
Jerold is mature and reliable. He expects the same from the people with whom he works. For him, each photo session is an honor, and an opportunity for those involved to further enhance their skills and portfolios. Models must be 18 or older, no exceptions.

Some of the most compelling subjects do not consider themselves to be "models" at all. Their unpretentious ways are always welcome and appreciated.
Depth and emotion are important. It's most gratifying to work with someone who can portray those qualities.
If one recognizes and appreciates beauty, it will surely manifest in his work. It's only natural for those who allow it to happen.
