About Me

Hello everyone. My name is Dean and I'm a full-time professional photographer/artist working in the Tucson and Phoenix Arizona area. I've lived in the Tucson area for over 10 years now and love the climate and the many urban and outdoor shooting locations I have scouted.

I hold a BFA in Photographic Illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology which is known as one of the best photo schools in the world. There I took graduate and undergraduate courses in: studio photography, portrait photography, fashion photography, photojournalism, fine-art photography, digital imaging, and pretty much everything else about photography I could learn.

Upon graduation I worked for Eastman Kodak in their Professional Imaging Division working with product development and testing new films/cameras. Although I loved my job there I left for a warmer climate. I'm also an experienced digital retoucher and digital fine art printer.

As for my personal style, I would say that although I enjoy all aspects of photography I prefer to work only with natural light and some on camera flash because I love to work with light I can see and transform. This is because I am very connected to nature and love to shoot outdoors whenever possible.

If you are a model looking for standard black and white studio headshots I am not your guy. But if you are looking for photos that look right out of a fashion ad then I'm someone you should model for.

You may notice how relaxed my models look in front of a camera. That is because I am polite and considerate with any client/model. It is also because I don't mind taking the extra time to get to know the individual in front of the camera. Many of my models have become good friends who I enjoy working with and exploring ideas over time.

You can trust that I never give out any personal information about a model (name, location, email/phone, occupation, sexual orientation, married status, etc.). Not under any circumstance. If there is someone who wishes to contact you for any reason I would tell that person that I will get in touch with you and tjem give you their contact information so you can decide if you want to be contacted or not.

I am proud of the friendships and creative relationships I have with my models and would never use an image without express written permission. Usage (if any) is always discussed and negotiated prior to any shoot so we have no misunderstandings and our agreement will usually be put into writing in the model release. If you are a paying client then of course a model release would be conditional and entirely up to you.

Our shoot can be at a place of your choosing or mine. I also do not mind exploring your own ideas and following your direction if there are images you wish to have other than what is usually called for. I also enjoy creative collaboration with a model so that the end result becomes the synergy of two creative minds instead of one.

I am seeking male/female models and clients for TFP work and fine art figure work.  Although my preference leans towards male models I would like to get more experience working with women so please feel free to contact me as well.

You can expect professional treatment even if not a paying client. That includes touching or sexual advances towards a client/model. If I need to pose you I ask first before touching. I do not mind if you wish to have a chaparone or your friend or partner present during the shoot as long as they do not get in the way or go against what we had already agreed upon prior to shooting.

Please note that I do consider myself more of a fine-art and fashion photographer than a commercial glamour photographer. This means that I do my best work when given creative freedom and through client/model collaboration. My creative process builds momentum as I begin to research ideas and often I do not just grab my camera and run out to take photos without having a firm conceptual idea first.

Frontal nudity or nudity with face is not a requirement for figure work however if you are not a paying client please do not take offense if I ask for permission to make such photos prior to our photo session. I consider the human form a work of divine creation and therefore I often choose to do figure work to explore my personal vision and style.

Of course, if you are paying me then it is your call on what we do. If TFP then we negotiate and reach an understanding. Again, nudity is not required for TFP although fine-art figure work is often what I hope to do.

If we are doing fine art work I do not expect anyone to do anything that would make them uncomfortable. I will always take the time to assess your comfort level in doing so. Once you let me know what your comfort level is then I will not press for more unless you indicate you are comfortable in exposing more.

It is my hope to make some friends here with other photographers and models in the TUCSON/PHOENIX area as well. I feel that other creative individuals understand me the best and make the best friends so please feel free to contact me if you are interested in getting to know me as a friend.

Here is a partial list of those who I would be most interested in photographing although it is not in any order of preference

men (heterosexual, gay, bi-sexual, transgendered, transexual, crossdressing, drag queens)

women (heterosexual, bisexual, lesbian, transgendered, transsexual, crossdressing, drag kings)
