Well, I am a 30 yr old vintage Pin-Up model living just outside the Portland, Or. area. I have 3 boys with my forever fiance so I am very out numbered in my house. So, my get away is my bedroom where I can get creative with sewing outfits & coming up with ideas I can use for photo shoots.
How This All Started-
So, On a deadline as usual I was looking for the perfect hat for a burlesque looking outfit I made. I went everywhere, every craft store & fabric store and just couldn't come up with anything. I finally went back to the big fabric dept type store and asked if they had anything different. She pulled out a mini top hat from behind the counter and I fell in love with the idea. Knowing I didn't like the cheap look it gave off I gave it back to her and, I grabbed some blue sparkly fabric to match my outfit and headed home. And to my room I went, I made the first hat out of cardboard, it worked very well for the shoot, light weight, easy to decorate, then as I went home and kinda tossed the hat down in exhaustion from the shoot, realized the cardboard just isn't going to work.
About the Hats-
I make the hats in 3 sizes I call them 2", 3" & 4" mini top hats although the size is not exact since everyone is handmade. They are very light weight and easy to wear. I attach either a hair comb clip or elastic although I have to say from experience wearing them, I like the elastic best. They work perfect in almost any situation, Goth, princess, burlesque, what ever you can imagine. I have experimented for a while with other products but, now I use a durable laminated material, that I cut out using my own pattern I made. I shape each piece then I cover each piece with a fabric of choice. I then construct all the pieces into one of the cutest little hats ever. Decorating them, that's a breeze, they usually go with how I feel, unless I have a custom order.
My biggest clientell are models & Photographers right now, which makes perfect since. Although I would love to see everyone walking around on the street with Manyd Apple's Mini-Top Hats.
08//15/09 I am very excited about the progress & excitement of these hats. I right now have 4 hats in Philadelphia & 3 in NY being shot for magazine submission.
I have made several designs you may like, if not you can always place a custom order. Give me an idea, send me a pic of an outfit you will be wearing and I can match it.
I WILL NOT REPLICATE HATS MADE BY OTHER PEOPLE! That is NOT right!!!!!

To do trade with me my requirements are-
*I must get pics to add to my port
*I will want to know you have a shoot set up & would like to see the photogs port
*The hat will have to be returned to me in no less than 2 wks unless other plans have been made.
*I will sell it to you for a discount price, not free if you want to keep the hat after the shoot.
*If you are not a local model, I will require you to pay to ship it back to me.
