TRAVEL NOTICE:
I'm heading to England on December 8th for a month and looking to pick up some PAID gigs with either photographers or artists in the London area.
Please email me at skycladarts@wildmail.com as soon as possible if you are interested. All types of photographic work considered
I now have a new website for both my modelling and artwork at
www.freewebs.com/skyclad-arts
I regard myself as primarily a fine art figure model for artists & animators, enjoying being being part of the creative process as I am also an artist and realise the importance of the human body in art.
I'm also working as a photographic model here in Vancouver with Vancouver Photo Workshops, Langara College and Focal Point as well as several private photographers.
Short story of how I became a model...
I first began modelling way back in 1984, when a naturist photographer, Mike Herring, developed some of my holiday photos and contacted me with a view to hiring the model I had used. So I visited Mike's studio and after several successful sessions decided that a new alternative career might be beckoning me.
Fifteen years later and Mike and I have recently returned from an assignment in France where I acted as both model and assistant.
In between times I have lived in the USA, where my modelling career really took off after I replied to an advert in the local newspaper for 'nude models'. It turned out to be a local adult education centre and although being nude in front of one person isn't too daunting, the reality of being nude in front of a dozen or more was a different proposition!
However I took the plunge and once I had gotten used to hearing the class talk about me as an object that was not too easy to draw, I soon found myself so relaxed that I almost fell asleep on my first job!!
I then travelled out west to Portland Or, where I found a greater need for models, so that I was able to maintain my new found career and also meet some very interesting people into the bargain, eventually doing some private modelling for local artists. I also found myself running several sessions of 'model only courses' which was a real challenge to my creative ability and artistic temperament!
When I returned England I was lucky enough to find full time work, but but decided to sign on as a model with the local education authority becoming a regular with the art centres around town.
Little would I have thought fifteen years ago that a few naturist photos would lead me into being naked in front of hundreds of people and probably appearing on many art school walls across two continents!(having also modelled in France as well as England and America).
I'm now living in Vancouver, BC, and working as a figure model at all the local colleges, art schools and animation and film schools.
