About Me

"I began my journey as a photographer when I was living in Layton, UT. I decided I wanted to pursue a career in something artistic for as long as I could remember.. Drawing was always a passion of mine, and I also enjoyed graphic design. I began taking graphic design and photography courses during high school. I remember vividly an outing I took with my father on a cold winter day after I had aquired my first 35mm camera. He had dabbled here and there with his own SLR and began to show me how to view the world through the lens."

Mark went on to pursue other passions including decorative concrete stamping and completed school at Le Cordon Bleu Las Vegas in 2005 to become a Chef. He remained in Las Vegas, NV for 5 years and honed his skill at J.W. Marriott in Summerlin and then went on to become a Chef Tournant at Bradley Ogden inside Caesar's Palace on the Strip.

"I've always known I was meant to create art, and over time it has simply evolved through different mediums."

It was in Las Vegas during this time that he spent all of his spare time in the hills surrounding Las Vegas with his 35mm, photographing landscapes. It wasn't long until he purchased his first Digital SLR in 2007 and really began to take off..

"I spent every moment when I wasn't working down on the Strip, around various parts of town, and in the hills getting familiar with my exposures, difficult lighting situations and really just starting to "see" the compositions of my vision."

In 2009, Mark decided he had experienced enough of the Sin City and moved back to SLC to be closer to his 2 daughters and to get back to his roots. He found work in the Restaurant world for a short time, but found that he was torn between 2 passions now... Culinary Arts.... and Photography.

In 2010, Mark started up Tenacious Lens LLC and started working with various photographers and models to start getting his work noticed. He also has taken on Cityscapes and Urban decay projects, and often intigrates them with people.

"Finally, I am starting to develop MY vision for where I would like my images to go... I want to re-create my dreams and surreal ideas, and paint them with light..."
