As the Editor of Skin Two magazine until 2006, I worked with most of the world’s top fetish models and fetish photographers. I left the magazine with a track record of over two decades of creative involvement in high end fetish publishing.
Continuing that tradition, in February 2007 I launched my own fetish webzine, The Fetishistas. It combines the best features of pervy print mags, such as high quality journalism and photography, with the immediacy, accessibility, interactivity and breadth of content that only the web can offer.
In recent years, I have photographed many of the industry’s favourite models and performers at major international fetish events to accompany my reports of these events. As someone who considers himself basically “an editor with a camera”, reportage/photo-journalism remains my main thing but I plan to expand into feature and portfolio work when my commitments at The Fetishistas allow.
In the meantime, I am happy to make contact with legitimate fetish modelling and photography talents. The ’zine’s aim is to give exposure both to new and established talents in the fetish and related fields (such as retro pin-up, burlesque, gothic etc), so I’m happy to hear from anyone who feels they have an appropriate portfolio to show. But first, please read my criteria for submissions and friending below!
I am obviously happy to connect here with established fetish talents who already know me and want to keep in touch and keep me aware of their latest work. But I am also particularly interested in giving exposure to promising fetish talents who have not yet made an impression on the established fetish press, whether it’s because they’re still working at a local level, or because they’re located off the influential English-speaking UK-US fetish axis, for example in mainland Europe.
Wherever you’re based, I do require that your work demonstrate a commitment to the fetish genre, which means having at least one good quality fetish shoot already in your portfolio. If you’re a fetish wannabe but your portfolio is entirely vanilla, or you’re still at the stage of doing amateur shoots with your partner, or you’re just ‘trying’ fetish as one of several ways of raising your profile, you’re unlikely to get me interested. I need to see more evidence than that of your fetish/bdsm motivation and creativity.
I apply the above criteria pretty stringently in my friending policy. If you send me a friend invite and I then see nothing in your profile or your photo gallery that suggests you have actually done any fetish work, I am very unlikely to add you.
Fetish models, fetish photographers and other fetish or fetish-related talents who CAN provide such evidence are welcome to friend me and to send me, if they wish, appropriate lo-res pix or details of other URLS where their work can be viewed to: tony@thefetishistas.com. Feel free to include some information — about yourself, your work and, specifically, your interest in the fetish/bdsm genre — at the same time, as I find this very helpful.
I also have a personal MySpace page at:
www.myspace.com/tony_mitchell, and The Fetishistas has its own ‘corporate’ MySpace page at:
www.myspace.com/thefetishistas. Friend us there to be kept up to date with Fetishistas events and other news, but use Model Mayhem or my personal MySpace page if you want to contact me directly.
I am also on FaceBook as “Tony_Mitchell” (with an underscore) and we also have a fan page there under “TheFetishistas” (with no space).
Thanks for your interest. Tony Mitchell (London, October 2008)
