I am a (brand new to) Portland photographer and I want to take your picture.
For 15 years I worked as a sales professional in the technology field. While they pay was good, the work was far from fulfilling. When I was recently laid off, instead of taking another job in the same field, I decided to pursue my passion for photography. My goal is to turn my passion for photography into a career. In order to do that (in part) I am shooting as much as I can. I've been shooting all kinds of photography lately, but I have a particular interest in artistic and fashion photography.
In my work, my goals are:
•to capture the essence of who I'm shooting, and bring that to life in my final photos.
•to make sure you (and I) are 100% satisfied with the photos we make together.
To achieve these goals, I try to understand you as best as I can. I ask a lot of questions before and during the shoot, and even some afterwards. I want to know what look and feel you want to have in your photos. I want to see example of photos (of you or others) that you like, and ones that you don't like, and I want to know why.
Lately I have been working on some artistic photography, where I have been collaborating with artists/models, which I enjoy very much. Working as a partnership to make artistic photography is very fulfilling for me.
I am easy going and easy to work with, but I’m also motivated and serious about my work. The professionalism that was required of me when working with executives at Fortune 1000 companies remains with me to this day. I will respect you and your time, and I will deliver what I promise.
I am working with a coach who is encouraging me to study Renaissance masters and their use of light. He is also encouraging me to explore the use of light, color, form, and gesture in my photography. These are some of my guiding thoughts at the moment.
I am interested in contrasts and non- sequiturs: children in grown-up suits, aristocratic types in dingy locations, “street” people in a fancy ballroom, a formal dinner in the woods, etc. I would like to do some shoots in “non-traditional” model shoot locations, such as old churches, warehouses, and factories.
I am doing time for CD work with models/artists who are also building their portfolios, as well as commissioned work for businesses and established models.
If you think I am a photographer you’d like to work with, please send me a note. I look forward to hearing from you.
