The exciting part about visual art is the exploration of ideas. I like working with models who are willingly creative, and I am grateful to have worked with some incredibly artistic souls.
I began photographing models as a way to capture reference photos for use in painting (oils and acrylics on canvas). I am an artist with an wide appreciation for the beauty of the female in both the figurative as well as the human sense. I use my camera to capture a moment... in light and color.
Often I reinterpret that image, using canvas and paint to add depth of character or tell a story; using form as realism, as a spiritual vessel, or as an icon. But I might as well admit it to myself and the world: photography has also become an artistic end-goal.
Sometimes I book models for one of my "sketch groups." If you are interested in sitting for a painting group in the Houston area (either nude or with wardrobe) please send me a message. If you have a specific idea as to how you would like to be painted, you are welcome to include that information.
I work with groups that "pay" with a couple of sketches or paintings, and I work with others that pay real dollars... usually between $40 and $60 for three hours work. It is a meaningful creative experience, and a different world from that of glamour photography. Life drawing is both a time-honored tradition, and a cutting edge experience, and the models who participate usually have art in their souls.
