For me it would be an insult to call these "beautiful pictures" with no intention of criticizing those who have, but these images are so much more than beautiful and perhaps are simply not traditionally beautiful at all. I find them evocative, disturbing and familiar as if they've floated from somewhere in the inner-folds of my very own psyche. In them I feel references to death, execution, imprisonment, enmeshed companionship, family and yet a tremendous compassion for the complexity beauty and tragedy of the human condition. These are certainly not nudes, and certainly not erotic though ironically they use pornographic conventions such as eye contact with the assumed vouyer, yet they manage to remain raw reflections of human psychology and trauma, not sexuality. I love the distressed textures and all the techniques to distance the viewer and make one feel outside of the internal workings of this art. I often feel soiled or depressed after spending any time on this website, but with occasional discoveries like your photos it seems worth the suffering.
