You're kidding right?  You can pict up a Canon 20D body (NEW) for less then $1000 over the internet.

iYi Images—You can pick up a 20d body for under 1k if it's a f***ing scam site, sure.

Anyway though, 1k for a 10d is honestly pretty steep.

Although, the 10d's were rated for 250k pics as the 20d's were rated at 50k.

I say keep it as backup unless you don't want to let go of it for less than 750.

LOL.  Good luck on getting a $1000.00 for the 10D.  The 20D just hit and used, their between $1125.00-$1200.00.  Hmmm?? Let's do the math.

I was pricing cameras online last night and found a 10D WITH a lens for $799.

Oh - and the body of the 20D for $725 (royalcamera.com).

Actually - don't use these guys - their prices are for imports. I ordered a Sony F828 for $504, come to find out it was the Taiwanese version.

Royal Camera has a very oily reputation, as do many of the electronics/camera dealers in Brooklyn.  The only places I will buy from (besides the local shop in Tampa) are B&H and Adorama.

I agree, the 10D price is high.   I still have mine as a backup, but wouldn't mind upgrading it for a 20D backup.  I don't know that I can ever go back to shooting with the 10D again.

I'm finding that out (hadn't bought a new camera online before).

EDIT: I just cancelled my order with one of those "oily" places that would NOT let up trying to sell me a damn filter kit...then lied about giving them to me for free when I found a place that sold them  cheaper. But he called ME a "difficult customer." I decided to go with Adorama and pay a little more.

Has the original poster come back to post regarding finding a brand new 10D cheaper? He might need to lower his price (or keep it).

I forgot to mention that as well - the low, low price they offer is often contingent on you buying things that are included in the box, like manuals, a battery, etc - and often at a hefty markup, making the purchase more than you'd pay at a reputable place.  Nice!

The only places I would buy gear from in New York:

B&H, Adorama, Berger Brothers, and Cameta Camera.   J&R is a maybe - don't know enough about actual sales experiences from them.

I did finally buy from Adorama, but still got that oily feeling from the rep. Final price was not as advertised (I ended up getting charged $4 or so more than he quoted - not a huge deal, but *not* what he quoted) and he didn't ship it on time (I paid for 2 day) so it's now taking an extra day (past today - when I actually WANTED the camera for a shoot).

I probably would not buy from them again.
