This is something that strikes me odd. I received an email from a so called APA Photos and Models. They claim to be an agency. The content of the emails says something to the extent that I should get 34-38D implants if I want to seriously boost my modeling career and that they'll sign with me if I do. I responded saying "I'm modeling for fun and don't plan to change my body in any way." And pretty much got a response from them yelling at me saying if I take modeling as a joke, I should take down my profile and stop wasting other people's time. sad

Well, I've got two questions:
1) Has anyone ever heard of this agency? I researched it and found a website with only one picture. Not very good quality either considering they claimed to be in the industry for 33 years.

2) Do agencies actually have the right to tell you to get implants?

I enjoy modeling and I'm satisfied with the way I look. So if anyone else thinks I should leave the industry, too bad for you.

Now ain't that f**ked up? Though on the other hand, if I owned an agency i would turn down girls with implants cause they're gross.

Maybe they told you that because of clientelle they have, but still, I find it quite weird.

They said I would look absolutely stunning with D sized breasts. I'm thinking that's very improportionate to my body and major backpains.

They don't sound too legitimate for a few reasons:

1) Real agencies aren't emailing random models online.  They have plenty of models seeking them out.

2) While an agency MIGHT suggest some enhancement, they wouldn't suggest it to a minor nor would they suggest such a ridiulously disporortionate enhancement.  You'd tip over with 38Ds.

3) A real agency wouldn't bother to yell at you for wasting *their* time after all this. They'd be unlikely to care if you weren't interested.

1. No, but I claim no expertise there.
2. Yes, but you don't have to do it unless you've signed a contract saying that you would if they told you to.  But if they only place people in jobs that require large breasts, why would they sign you in the first place?

My guess is that these guys have a deal with a plastic surgeon.

I'd be stunned, but not in a good way.

Agreed.
It's very rare to see a boob job that works.  I really don't know why anyone would pay thousands of dollars to get big bubbles on their chests and have their nipples at the top of their boobs.

I seriously doubt the credibility of this 'agency'.  They may just want you for porn.
What is their site?
And giant boobs look horrible on small girls.

Yes, they have the right to tell you that. The same way an asshole has the right to fart. Not, that it get's anything accomplished and mostly will annoy everyone with in nose reach. But, it has a constitutional right (or biological right in this case). I guess that's where brain fart originated from.

Unfortunately they can pretty much say whatever they want... but implants are generally gross. I'm pretty small myself and have never considered implants... they're so overrated. I think it's awesome that you're happy with your body and for telling them so!

It sounds like one of the usual low-life omp GWC perverts is calling himself an agency and snuck in here.

IGNORE idiots like that.

Thats what the DELETE button was made for!

"APA Agency STINKS of Scam!"

First, the only address they list is a P.O. Box in New York with no license number displayed as required by law.
Second, only FREE websites used.
Third, amateurish photos used on amateurish website.
                                            .... and PLENTY MORE!!!

----------------------------------
According to the State of NY, Division of Consumer Affairs:

FACTS ABOUT MODELING / TALENT OFFERS IN NEW YORK CITY
New York City modeling/talent agencies must be a licensed employment agency by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), and must be bonded, as well. A licensed agency is required to prominently display its license. Look for the DCA license number on receipts and ask about the license if you do not see it posted. Call 311, New York City’s 24-
hour Citizen Service Hotline (or 212-NEW-YORK outside New York City), to file a complaint or inquire if a business is licensed. Consumers can also visit DCA online at www.nyc.gov/consumers to file a complaint.

Businesses that operate as a photography studio cannot also be an employment agency, and vice versa. This should be a red flag to aspiring models, and if you encounter a business that does both, report them to the DCA.

I have seen a couple of those girls pictures on photographers pages right here on MM so they may have stolen those images that are used  on that first site.

Wow! Never heard that before. Usually depends what type of modeling like when I see Runway models they are usually small chested but commercial models are usually bigger. I know a model who is actually getting breast inplants because she's a commercial model.

The BBB is not a government or law enforcement agency and will do nothing in regards to a situation such as this. While the original intention of the BBB was honorable, over the years the BBB has become very diluted and is no longer effective.

The BBB is a privately run organization.  The BBB will only divulge negative information about any particular company in relatively RARE circumstances.  The BBB will not report information about non-existing companies (such as APA).  As a matter of fact, many scammers become members of the BBB so that people will think they are honest business people.

It is better to report such frauds to law enforcement agencies such as the State Attorney General, or to the NY Dept. of Consumer Affairs as displayed in a messsage above.

This isn't about an agency (or "wannabe" agency), it is about you.  The only thing that matters is what you want to do!

Good luck to you!

Depending on what this "agency" provides as product could be the reason why they asked you to get implants in order for them to sign you.
By signing with this company you would have to conform to the body style they would find useful to make them money.
What they said is not uncommon in the field to improve your career or thiers but by no means does it mean you have to do it. When you sign you will be expected to stay at a certain weight, hair length, nails a certain length, and work out alot to keep it that way. They are strict and most will drop you in a heartbeat if you cannot abide by that contract. It is a hard field if you are not serious.
Have you ever watched "The Next Supermodel"? The stuff they go thru is just a hint of what your life would/could be like as a professional model.

If your doing it for fun and what they ask sounds wierd or harsh, dont say your doing it for fun. They could be the ones around to sign you when you do choose to go serious with modeling. Someone will remember you saying "I am only doing it for fun".
If your happy with the way things are now, then stay with it. Dont be pressured by agencies to change your body to thier whims. Once you change and you make them money for a bit and they find someone else, they will drop you like a hot coal and leave you to fend for your career yourself.
You have good photos so dont undermine yourself by not realizing your full potential as a model.

My friend owns SVM/Satchi agency and was looking for some people for a big event in the DC area. She went into why girls wanted big boobs and how their agency hates big boobs! lol. She said the opposite, she said, some people just need to get breast reductions!

They say they dont do porn, yet they tell an underage girl to get implants to a size that would cause her to tip over in a light breeze, and one of their links has a webcam? I so smell porn production here!

People nowadays are too caught up on looking "perfect" and having big breasts. But I don't really care what others think. I love what my momma gave me. smile

It sounds nice to go professional but I've seen what the professional models have to go through. Doesn't sound like fun for me. But...I want to be a psychologist so if anyone needs someone to talk to (in a few years), you know who to go to.
_______
I fall easily. I don't need big dumb boobs to pull me down. But after the angry email, I responded with "alright, pay for the surgery." That got them to shut up. big_smile

There is plenty of room for a model with your body type in modeling. Not all modeling requires extremely strict diet, 15 hour shoots and all the stereotypical issues you hear about.

I once worked with agreat model who did some work with Playboy. She is beatiful, smart and a great model, ins short everything Playboy looks for in  centerfold. They offered to pay for "enhancements" which were a requirement for a her to be a centerfold, after much thought she declined. I'm not for em, not again them just make a decision you feel comfortable with, seems like you have.
BTW she is the only nude on my MM port with another shot on my OMP port

It never ceases to amaze me what a bad rap implants get in these forums. To say they are down right "gross" is a very close-minded statement to make. Not everyone who decides on augmentation is seeking some ridiculous "over the top" monsterous looking chest or balloons, some just want to be proportionate. While I agree that getting implants to enhance a modeling career can lead to some serious disappointment, I will say that it has enchanced mine as no one in the world would care to photograph loose saggy delflated skin for breasts. I'm not just referring to topless pics or implied. Even in a low cut top you could see the lose skin in my cleavage. I decided to selflessly breastfeed my 2 children and it left me delated and suffering from severly aged breasts. My motivation was to look and feel youthful as I once did, breasts to match the rest of my "in shape" body~not to be a freakshow or enhance a career.

Please stop making these blanket statements that implants are "gross" or you wouldn't shoot a woman who had them~that's nothing more than a narrow minded opinion . Don't judge til you've walked a mile in someone else shoes. If you asked me 10 years ago if I'd ever do it, the answer would've been "no". At the same time I wasn't judging those who decided it was something they felt they should do.

Respectfully~
