I was just wondering if anyone can give me a limit as to what is to crazy to ask a photographer for on a TFP basis. I get all these silly ideas like...I love the Bohemian Green Fairy, and I think it would be a fun shoot. I know that I should probably stick to the basics because I am new, but I just want to have fun with this, and I would love images like that. So here is the second part of the question...what is the craziest thing you've done for a shoot?

You can get as crazy as you like for shoots.  IMO, the crazier, the better.  smile

I think as long as the idea does not make anyone commit a felony, it's fair game.

Misdemeanors are okay.

No idea is to crazy to try to accomplish. As far as going to a photographer for a crazy tfp shoot, that would make the photographer be more likely to make an exception for you (if tfp is not their thing). At least in my books. Creativity rules!

Craziest thing ever...hung out the back of a mini van, upside down, holding on to the photographer who was also hanging out of the back of the minivan upside down (I was assisting at the time)...taking photos of a model riding a bike.........

a) i hear ya.. donkey's arn't the most congenial of models. Photogenic yes; amenable to razor's: no!

b) Why does it matter if the photographer is clean shaven or not?

get a crazy as you can...  smile

The problem is usually that the crazier the idea, the more production is required on the shoot (locations, props, wardrobe, etc). Thus it requires more people involved to make it happen. Harder to do with TFP.

that is why you find a model (me) who is also a stylist/wardrobe/concept (me) and a MUA (me) throw in a female model (not me unless you want to turn me into one) tongue and the rest is all you big_smile

Actually, I will usually choose to go with a model that has a more creative idea than a boring one for tfp. I always have a bunch of ideas of my own, but sometimes it's nice to have a fresh perspective from someone else. The idea of TFP is to shoot something that will benefit both model and photographer. I can do boring shoots with just about anyone, it's the creative/off the wall stuff that is more rare and will help me add unique images to my portfolio. Provided of course that the model is willing to at least help out with some of the production required as far as buying props or maybe helping find a location to carry it out in, both parties should play a role in that and split it up.

Hmm ..my craziest would be electrocuting myself while standing in a foot of water trying to operate an electrical fog machine, while being a human wave machine, while assisting on a shoot of a mermaid that I painted on a rock that I donated 2 layers of skin to make out of cement! (see portfolio for result)

Me... I've seen some of the stuff some friends have come up with...  I don't think much can be crazier than that...

And If the idea sounds feasable and not to life threatening I'd be willing to shoot it...

Hopefully the power shaving was only for the mounds. I feel for you if you had to clear the underbrush from the valley with a power shave.

I was honestly wondering the same thing.... how many photographers out there use sets, or work with set designs, etc., and what is too much to ask for?  I want to set up some intricate shoots soon, but not sure what my parameters to work with are... smile

Ok, the shave I understand, but at the risk of asking something I might regret, how does one power an ass???

I jumped off some sea defence thing over some poor model so the tog could catch me "in flight" about to prey on some unsuspecting victim (Photo on portfolio). The take off was easy.... Just then landings that can be a pain in the foot!
