now here's one very brave girl smile

ashleigh from bella model management (australia). this size 16 teenager was in a magazine, unretouched, in her underwear, with a bunch of straightsize models. she had to deal with A LOT of nastiness: girls at school bullying her, but she has also inspired a lot of girls over there, and she definitely inspired me. beautiful inside and out smile

a bit of an oldie, but I really liked this campaign (hated the clothes when I actually saw them in the store though, but the campaign looks so glamourous)

Tara Lynn in the H&M campaign

EDIT I tried to upload her pictures but it didn't work, hm, strange... anyway, you can find her right here, check it out!

she has a bit of a tara lynn vibe going on, I hope she's going to do really well smile. I'd love to get signed with that agency, slightly jealous... but she did a really good job so she totally deserves it!

She is STUNNING!! WOW. Good for her and well wishes from me!

yeah and she has like NO experience big_smile. she got signed based on some snapshots (which is rare in the plus model world). she did an amazing job smile. would love to test with that photographer, but just can't afford him (he charges 450 euros...) sad.

just wondering, is there such a thing as "normal" size models. Isn't it just skinny and plus? (for fashion I mean) or is there a niche in between?

32/34 is catwalk
34/36 is fashion
42 and up is plus size

I can tell you from my experiences that size 38/40 is not a good size for modeling, they call it often 'the just inbetween-size'. And you would be doing commerical modeling, if you're lucky! smile

I'm also sort of in between with my 36/38.... I'm such a 'fatty' uhuhm...
If I would be a 34/36 with my lenght I would become see-through I guess.. Maybe I need to go for plus size *grabs bag of crisps*

if you become plus size, please do a shoot with me :p. i'd love to stand next to someone and not look like an effing giant...

you are beautiful the way you are wink. besides, with all the kickass nudish artsy awesomeness you do, you don't have to care about being agency standard!

You are so sweeeet *hug hug*
But I would love to be able to do some more fashion without having to worry about ruining the clothing with my ass. So far I've been able to get all the designer stuff on, but I worry that that will change pretty soon.... But hey, I can always take my clothes off tongue

yeah for sample sizes I bet it's really tricky to be 36/38 sometimes... when i was in design school, I used to make really figurehugging stuff in non-stretch fabrics, and they would all be in 34. If a girl came in a casting that was a 36, I already started getting nervous big_smile.

so far so good, fingers crossed!

That happened to me lol

Initially I inquired about doing fit modeling, and I only brought 2 or 3 photos with me and my agent loved my look and told me that I fit in various categories besides fit, and I was pretty much signed on the spot. smile

Fun thread. Always have to give my love out to the atypical models. But i have to say, i feel like a lot of these girls are far and few between. They have huge curves but none in the wrong places.

Quick question-

Does any one have any suggestions on a good agency to start with? With a plus size division of course.
Preferably in the West Coast/California area.

I don't know weather I want to dive right into submitting to bigger agencies but at the same time I'm wondering if I should just go for it.

Thoughts?

Food for thought, you may want to put up your bust-waist-hip measurements, they mean more than your actual weight or size.

That said, you have the height, and if you are interested in the opinion of SoCal agencies to start off with, you might as well start high.

The agencies that rep plus models in the L.A. area are:

Ford
Wilhelmina
LA Models
CESD
Brand
Natural
Peak
Rage

all of them have different preferences as for submissions/open calls, check their websites or call if not certain.

Good luck!

thought this might be fun to watch!

a runway show of Elena Miro, the S/S 2011 collection...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p7kiErYGoQ

I've been looking up plus size runwayshows online, and I am sorry to say that a lot of them are one hot mess :s. I'm sorry, maybe it's a US thing, but they are just so dragqueenalicious that it's almost funny. for all the plus size models here interested in doing some more fashiony walking: watch this, study and learn.

I've found hundreds of videos like this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kQEs09npNA

god... I'm sorry, I love the Monif C bathingsuits and I'm glad that those woman can walk over the runway with so much confidence, but to me this is really dreadful to watch.

opinions?
